Hi I was totally agast to find out after I was promised rates would stay the same that they had doubled.I repeatedly asked the sales person if they charge more than I was paying at preasent . I was told my price would be locked at my preasent rate and would stay the same when the increase in prices came about in the near future.This in my mind is a total misrepresentation. I am paying now 21 cents a cubic meter and the rate was 10 cents . When I found this out I phoned Summit and was told I should have looked at contract . The problem is, it does not matter what the contract said I assumed(bad) that it was at the preasent price as promised by the sales person . It could have been 200 cents a minute I would assume that was the price I was paying at preasent according to the sales person.I have sent Summit a email requesting a contract closing due to the misrepresentation. I will be calling my MP if no response is given. WE WILL SEE!!

I just want to warn everyone that SUMMITT ENERGY has been going around Ottawa (Avalon neighborhood in Orleans). I had someone at my door on July 17, 2013. He said he was affiliated with Ontario Energy Board and wanted to verify if I was paying HydroOne's "new price" or "old price". When he put me on the phone and they asked if I agreed to a 5 year contract, I hung up the phone and slammed the door in his face.Summitt Energy is a scumbag company and Carlo (rep no OK 1364) is a DISHONEST, MISLEADING, LYING jerk. If he comes to your door, tell him to get lost and call the police.

Tuesday Jan 7th 2014, I just received a visit from Summitt Energy In the Ajax area of Ontario. First thing this guy asked was to see my bill to make sure I was getting the discounted rate. I was blunt and said your not seeing my bill and I'm not interested. Who knows what would have happened if he looked at my bill, I'd probably be secretly signed up without my consent.

During the week of July 21st I received 2 visits from Summit Energy in West End Ottawa. When I opened the door the man standing in front of me told me that they were doing a survey of the area to determine who had price protection on their Hydro and that he would need to see my Hydro bill. I shook my head and asked him "who are you again?", he stated the same company line that he was with Summit Energy... I tried to get more info, but he kept toting the company line. I asked him for ID and he showed me the plastic badge around his neck that said Summit on it. I asked him for Government ID and he told me he didn't have any (who doesn't have Government ID?)
I told him to wait there while I called Ottawa Hydro for more info. It was at that point that he clearly stated that "he doesn't work for Ottawa Hydro", his colleague (standing quietly beside him) piped up and stated "were wasting our time with this guy, if he doesn't want to save money that's his loss"
Ottawa Hydro informed me that Summit is an authorized re-seller for Hydro and that they basically re-sell energy at a fixed price. This tends to work for people that work off hours and cannot take full advantage of Low - High peak times. She went on to explain that there is a Global Adjustment Tax "The Global Adjustment (GA) is a monthly adjustment that ensures the commodity
price paid for electricity on the wholesale market" this tax is included in your Hydro rates, but Summit Energy does NOT include this tax in their price and people that sign with them usually get a high bill for this amount at a later time. This is the GOTCHA moment and this is why there have been multiple law suits against Summit for mis-leading sales practices (don't take my word for it, just Google it)
The gist is this... The 1980's are over!!! don't trust door to door sales people without taking proper investigative measures.

These Scumbags were just at my door here in Pontypool Ont. ( Just South of Lindsay Ont) The guy (Kid) said he wasn't here to Sell me anything. LOL He asked to see my hydro bill & I told him it would be best if he turned his Butt around & head elsewhere as i had NO Time for his Bull Crap. Then i told him maybe he should hang around for a couple minutes until i did a Google search on Summit Energy to see all the great reviews his Company should be getting if they are so Good. He told me he didn't have time& left in a hurry. Direct Energy tried the same Scam on me a couple years ago also.
Dunno... I'm still a bit skeptical - but still paying a flat rate for all time periods. The scam I've run into is doubtful readings at the meter. There's just no way I can use 71 kwh per day for a whole month in a less-than-900 sq ft residence with gas heat
Geez! That's like the guy in Richmond Hill who received a bill for 27,000 litres of water use per day. Nothing wrong with the meter in either circumstance, I'm sure.
Well he sure didn't have a fat bank account. Got a bill for $8000. I'm wondering now how that all turned out.
Being an immigrant family, my parents don't speak English very well and signed a contract with Summitt Energy. Soon after, our Enbridge bill started to rise. By the third year, it was more than triple what we had been paying. So I started to investigate and it turns out these guys are not associated with Enbridge at all. ENBRIDGE KNOWS ABOUT THESE GUYS SO I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY DON'T DO ANY THING TO PROTECTING UNSUSPECTING CITIZENS. Especially elderly folks like my parents. I did the math and over the course of the contract, my parents were scammed out of $3000 to $5000. I can't be sure about the exact amount since I don't have all bills but at minimum, my parents paid $3000 extra on top of the legitimate charges. How and why these guys are allowed to operate is beyond me. I am so mad that the system that we pay into allows these crooks to operate. It may be a legitimate company on paper, they offer NO BENEFIT, NO SERVICE. So for the extra $3000 to $5000 they took, my parents got nothing back. Price protection you say? NO WAY! They set a fix price so high that there was no way that the true charge would reach that high. SPREAD THE WORD. SUMMITT ENERGY = CROOKS
