The trick is not to charge but convict police officers.. even in obvious outrages like this.

The policeman's attorney will bring up the time tested legal of strategy claiming the officer legitimately feared for his life.. and thought the victim was armed and turning to fire on him. Even the attempts of the officer to rig the crime season which should lead to Obstruction of Justice charge (worth years in prison on its own) will be recast as some type of self protection.

A breakdown of the video show a clear and willful murder. History indicates the policeman might get off.. or be convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter charges (worth about 10 year imprisonment). I'd be satisfied with the latter.. but i suspect he might get away with losing his job and nothing more.

I've heard he's already been fired.. going beyond that.. who knows.

wherever i sit down my ars
I watched the video. The man was running away from the policeman. That is no reason to kill another human being. He could have radio'd for help and the man could have been easily apprehended. The cop should be punished. IMO.

He can't seem to handle this can he?

Innocent until proven guilty. I'm just defending Slager the same way posters defended the cops who shot Martin, Brown, Garner, Rice, Crawford, etc., i.e. by upholding the officer's claim and making unfounded, lying accusations against the victims.

True

May I ask why? Those same posters (from what I've seen thus far) are saying that in this case people have a right to be outraged and the officer was in the wrong. Those same posters (from what I've seen thus far) are praising the firing and arrest of this guy.

Do you think you chose poor ground to fight here?

(I just scrolled through and I cannot find a post defending the shooting.)

BTW, whereas the cop is obviously abusing his authority and doesn't give a ****, utlimately the people that train them have just as much responsibility.
yes they absolutely do, and those who hired and screened him have to wonder how he got a pass

There was plenty of supporting evidence for those claims.

But you are correct, innocent until proven guilty. Like OJ Simpson.

I'm disturbed by the decline of "he had it coming" when a black man gets shot. As I said, it erodes confidence in the guardians of the peace.

Nobody even brought up that Scott's sister's cousin's brother's friend has a drunk-driving arrest on his record.
disappointed !

you missed the Obama quote..."he could have been my son"

Yeah, I especially liked the ones for Tamir Rice. Twelve years old, they couldn't dig up any dirt on him, so they reported widely that his father had been arrested for child abuse. OK, that justifies shooting him and leaving him to bleed out on the ground while you arrest his hysterical, panicking sister. No need for first aid or anything like that. Too busy protecting and serving.

Has anyone stopped to think what would happen if there was no one around to have filmed it?
nope because that's what "usually" happens or at least has happened in the past...but it is occurring less with phone cameras

Actually, a number of websites have posted the "official" version (a tissue of lies) that stood up until the video came out.

Note to cops: make sure you collect any and all video.

that sickens me, and as gore said...how many other innocents lost their lives in this manner

so you deal with this all of the time, obviously a systemic problem...how does it get fixed?

Sorry, I was refering to the guy in MO and the guy killed by the neighbourhood watch guy. The Cleveland cop should have been charged.
