And you can bet the government would be happy to investigate. Unlike the press, the government is scrupulously honest.

Cry u.s a river, pesky afghans still defiant even after years of shedding blood, iraqis too remain defiant as do libians despite baracs best efforts to get them to see things his way. Now salt in the pride wound as putin & co. not only render the u.s. cyber fence to swiss cheese status and get hillary scratched from the whitehouse race but also ignore barac & co. and take charge in syria.
Barac needed to appear in the drivers seat to try and salvage his legacy so gave putins' gang the boot as punishment but putin understands petty bullies and plays the game really well. Getting flights out of dc at new years is tough so he sent a plane to pick his guys up and invited american diplomatic families to his place for a new years party.
It's amazing that the u.s. would in defence of hillary admit to inferior cyber security in trying to blame putin for all their woes, any hacker worth his/her salt leave decoy trails for cyber sleuths, an ip address proves diddly.
Plenty of circumstance totally lacking in substance, putin is guilty but we can't reveal how we know what we know because that could jeopardize our position, fake news genesis.

Absolutely. The press is a huge moneymaker and has long been a part of the democratic scene. The National Enquirer, Weekly World News, etc. have been real inspirations to what is termed 'the mainstream media'. These papers were way ahead of their time. I think that we can finally appreciate their journalistic integrity and tenaciousness.

I always liked the Cold War. Everyone knew where they stood. Countries followed a defined set of rules and things were more prosperous. But, time marches on.

Even though the Interwebs has been around for a while now, it is still not fully understood. To steal from Darth Vader,

Tech puts a new face on the Cold War.

And why is it necessary to publish fake news again?

because the lamestream media are your moral and intellectual superiors.

because arrogance.

because ego.

because greed.

and because power.

this is nefarious, politically motivated by their owners and extremely dangerous.

and because, most people are gullible enough to buy what they're selling.

but go back to your life citizen. things will be just fine.

How do you get a Russian sub to surface?

Throw a bar of soap over the rail.

I said this in another thread. Humans continue to learn and evolve. Should the media continue their irresponsible ways, they will be corrected. While we wait for that adjustment to complete itself, we will see more silliness.

The lesson to the mainstream media is being delivered by people with cellphones and home computers. While these ordinary folks might not have a polished delivery, what they show is closer to the truth than what the mainstream shows.

More people re using their computers to get the news. The transition, IMV, has yet to properly address how videos or sound are analysed and explained to the average person. This is where the media still has the advantage. They have equipment to edit and can get analysts to explain what the images mean. They just have to learn not to lie.

Yeah, we used to watch them slide through the water when we were in Norway.
