Was it the girl's fault or should the officers be held accountable for their actions?

🤔🤔 Because I don't want kids..

You're weird

No, your comment about the video "Friggin brats". It doesn't matter that she was being a brat, she's NINE YEARS OLD! You don't abuse kids like that by spraying them with chemicals because you aren't smart enough to grab the kids legs and put them inside the goddamn car.

The pepper spray is way too much. A situation like this is very hard to handle. The people in charge are going to get criticized no matter what.
My great grand daughter is 3. She is a great kid but can be very defiant. If she wants to do something and is told no, its yell, scream, hit etc. I try and tell her mother, my grand daughter that she needs a bit more discipline to change her attitude but to no avail. Apparently, it's just a stage........Maybe, but I can see problems in the future with her.

After seeing the whole video, there's more disturbing things going on than a 9 year old being pepper sprayed. Likely the kid will be trouble in the future, because of her shitty ass parents.

That doesn't mean, though, she deserved to be sprayed. Doing so just added to her issues, it doesn't help them what so ever. And she will likely hate the police even more now because of it.

People have to learn not to poke bears: some learn easy, some learn hard.

I got a police chief fired when I was a young adult.
;)
He learned.

The bugger went back to teaching college

All kids are brats, or moscas..

... and I don't want any.. BTW, didn't even read your OP.. so.. didn't even know some kid got smacked.

Back in the day, when I was misbehaving my mom's favorite tool was the wooden spoon, my dad, the belt of course.

From your link:
The city began reassessing its response to mental-health-related calls after the death of Daniel Prude in March 2020. The incident became public five months later and sparked massive protests calling for RPD to change how it responds to calls involving mental health distress.
I'd say they have improved their treatment somewhat.

The parents? They pepper sprayed their 9 year old and handcuffed her?

Sorry, blaming the wrong adults here.
They detained her at the Mothers request after she threatened to kill her mom and herself

The Mayor also let her down even though she threw the cops under the bus from your article

The city launched a Person in Crisis Team under its Office of Crisis Intervention Services late last year and took away certain responsibilities from RPD. It became operational last week but was not summoned for Friday's call, Warren said.

Why weren't they called in to a domestic case knowing it was about a minor?

Pepper spray was a step to far, but what should they have done Serryah? If they just manhandled her into the car it still woulda been seen as abuse. Where was the father? I'm sure he was contacted by the mother before the police arrived

It was a failure all around from the parents up

No Police problems in the US eh- How many Officers does it take to restraing a 9 year old child- sprayed her while she in in the car - that is abuse - fire the one who ordered it, the one who sprayed her, and the senior officer in charge/on scene demoted to meter man
Rochester has a long problem with policing

Under the new AG, TBC, Garland, will see more Police Depts under direct supervision.

So you learned at an early age to beat on kids as an adult
Good to know.
