Let me be clear about where I am coming from first. I haven't had a smoke since June 1997.
My wife has serious big time trouble from COPD and it is bad without any hope of cure or
improvement. Having said that
I do not believe banning smoking is going to do a thing for society. people will smoke, people
will drink some will take pot and others will satisfy their lust for cocaine. We can fill the pages
of law with any number of restrictions and it won't change a thing. In fact these legislative folk
go so far that even their supporters turn against them eventually because the go from concerned
citizens to crusaders to outright Zealots.
I see a future of the speak easy coming back where people will go to dance, drink and smoke in
underground clubs like they did in the roaring twenties and the early thirties. Who knows they
may even throw in gambling.
Education is supposedly the key. Think about that for a minute. How many education programs
do we have? The perils of drinking, smoking, pot and coke use and we still have it in our midst.
It is a social issue and should not be associated with criminal activity.
People don't agree with socially engineered laws that people don't accept and they do as they
please.
Criminal law is different, any reasonable person does not agree with child molestation, or child
porn. They don't accept murder as a recreational activity either. Why? Because reasonable
people don't accept disgusting criminal behavior perpetrated against those who cannot defend
themselves or understand the impact of what is happening to them. Social laws forced on the
public don't receive the same level of acceptance.
Tobacco is legal. compare with other legal products. You have a car, what if they said you could
only drive you car one day a week and told you what street you could drive and park on? Well
coming up with these anti smoking laws is now a for of bullying in my opinion.
