That's right.

Seriously though... Obamacare was collapsing. The Administration would not even fully implement the LAW (no surprise there) because of the damage it would have caused. I just hope it is not too late to repair all the damage that Obamacare did.

What I could figure out from what I read about Obamacare was, if you were deliberately designing a system to be a complete cluster****, but still protect the entrenched health insurance lobby, you couldn't have done a better job.

It was all built on lies and deception too.

If you like your plan you can keep your plan ~ Obama

Call it the stupidity of the American voter ~ Gruber

Millions lost their plans and when they were forced to use the Obamacare Exchanges they were counted as people who never had health insurance and now did so because of Obamacare.

Researchers: Obamacare repeal could kill more than 43,000 people annually

David Himmelstein and Steffie Woolhandleris, both professors of public health at the City University of New York at Hunter College, Lecturers in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and founders of Physicians for a National Health Program, have a sobering message for the nation: repealing Obamacare will be lethal for tens of thousands of Americans every year.

The story is in the data: The biggest and most definitive study of what happens to death rates when Medicaid coverage is expanded, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that for every 455 people who gained coverage across several states, one life was saved per year. Applying that figure to even a conservative estimate of 20 million losing coverage in the event of an ACA repeal yields an estimate of 43,956 deaths annually. […]

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) and Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), who is Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Heath and Human Services, which will be in charge of dismantling the ACA — have advocated in place of the ACA would hollow out the coverage of many who were unaffected by the law, harming them and probably raising their death rates. Abolishing minimum coverage standards for insurance policies would leave insurers and employers free to cut coverage for preventive and reproduction-related care. Allowing interstate insurance sales probably would cause a race to the bottom, with skimpy plans that emanate from lightly regulated states becoming the norm. Block granting Medicaid would leave poor patients at the mercy of state officials, many of whom have shown little concern for the health of the poor. A Medicare voucher program (with the value of the voucher tied to overall inflation rather than more rapid medical inflation) would worsen the coverage of millions of seniors, a problem that would be exacerbated by the proposed ban on full coverage under Medicare supplement policies. In other words, even if Republicans replace the ACA, the plans they’ve put on the table would have devastating consequences.
Popular vote loser Donald Trump has already promised to slash Medicaid spending with block grants—there goes some 10 or more million people with coverage—about 21,000 deaths. No Republican has advocated for maintaining one of the key aspects of coverage under Obamacare—free preventive care, like cancer screenings. Everyone who has health insurance now can get those screenings, along with vaccinations and screenings for things like diabetes and high cholesterol. When they're not available without copay any more, fewer people will use them. Fewer people will find out if they have potentially life-threatening illnesses because of that. Fewer people will get early treatment for cancers that might not have spread if caught earlier.

Just from those two things that we know Republicans say they'll do—or not do—in a replacement plan, we know that there's going to be less care and more expense for millions. That means returning to the bad old days before Obamacare, when tens of thousands of people were dying premature and preventable deaths.

NYT: One-Third Dont Know Obamacare and Affordable Care Act Are the Same

In the survey, 35 percent of respondents said either they thought Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were different policies (17 percent) or didn’t know if they were the same or different (18 percent). This confusion was more pronounced among people 18 to 29 and those who earn less than $50,000 — two groups that could be significantly affected by repeal.

When respondents were asked what would happen if Obamacare were repealed, even more people were stumped. Approximately 45 percent did not know that the A.C.A. would be repealed. Twelve percent of Americans said the A.C.A. would not be repealed, and 32 percent said they didn’t know.

A Woman Just Scolded Mitch McConnell For Lying About Obamacare And It’s PERFECT

Republicans across the country are holding town halls tonight – and they aren’t getting the receptions they hoped they would. Furious voters were loudly calling for their representatives and Senators to protect their health insurance and to stand up to President Trump’s appalling policies – or lose their jobs.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was greeted by protesters as he arrived at a private fundraising luncheon in his home state, too cowardly to hold an actual town hall.

But even the attendees at his lunch were furious with him. McConnell could only lamely smile as this angry constituent chastised him for lying to them for so many years about coal jobs and then moving to strip them of affordable healthcare:

When later asked about the protesters, McConnell called them “losers:”

“They had their shot in the election. … But in this country when you win the election you get to make policy. I always remind people, winners make policy and losers go home.”
Some Republicans couldn’t handle the pressure and fled out the back door, like Rep. Joni Ernst (R-IA):

The line for Rep. Dave Brat’s town hall stretched around the block in a tiny town of only 3,000 residents. The craven sell-vote held it 60 miles from most of his constituents, but they showed up in force anyway:

This outpouring of fury is just what Republicans deserve. After years and years of ignoring the demands of their constituents to serve their corporate masters in Washington, Republican politicians are finally starting to get the message that people don’t want them to repeal the Affordable Care Act and that their cowardly enabling of President Trump’s unhinged and un-American agenda is not what the American people want to see from their elected officials.

Obamacare popularity highest in nearly seven years as repeal talk mounts

Publicity surrounding the Affordable Care Act's benefits may be meeting supporters' goals. More people view the health law favorably than at any point in nearly seven years.

That's the main finding of a Kaiser Family Foundation survey out Friday of 1,160 people last week that shows the Affordable Care Act is as popular as it's been since the summer of 2010.

The percent of people with favorable views of the law increased from 43% in December to 48% now. People are still split on whether to repeal the law or not — though far fewer want repeal without details of a replacement plan.

"It’s not surprising that as Democrats have gone on the offense about the benefits of the law for people, support for the law has gone up," says Paul Howard, director of health policy at the free market Manhattan Institute.

More than 1,160 adults were polled Feb. 13-19 for the survey, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

A lack of clarity over what the law would be replaced with if repealed strengthens attachment to the ACA, says Howard. Republican infighting weakens support for the repeal effort and supporters of the law have made "effective use of town halls" in congressional districts, he added.
