Neither are crucifixes, saints' medals, yarmulkes, phylacteries, or the modest, traditional dress of the Amish and Mennonites.

It's the disgusting hypocrisy of it all. When a Christian sect in Alberta didn't want to uncover their faces for things like licence pictures etc, the govt ruled against them but no one came running to defend their "rights" because they weren't brown and they didn't practice a non-western religion.
Similarly, in Ontario, prayer has been banned from public schools for at least 35-40 years now. But in Toronto, there's at least one public school that the govt has permitted muslims to use for religious instruction during school hours!
None of them are ready to show the healthy disrespect that they should for homophobic and misogynous religions like Christianity and Islam.
