WCMS DRESS CODE
At Woodford County Middle school, we believe that students should “dress for success.” Student dress
needs to be comfortable and neat and promote a safe, united, and orderly learning environment. Students
are encouraged to check their clothing before departing from home in the mornings so they do not lose
academic time dealing with a dress code issue.
General
All students are expected to adhere to common practices of modesty, cleanliness, and neatness and to dress
in such a manner as to contribute to the academic atmosphere. Clothing, jewelry, accessories, or other items
of adornment that refer to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, sexual innuendos, gang activity, violence, foul language,
or weaponry is not permitted. The wearing of any item that materially or significantly disrupts the
educational process or threatens the health or safety of other students or staff members is prohibited.
Pants
Students may wear jeans, khakis, slacks, or sweatpants of any color. Pants must conform to the following:
• Must zip, tie, or snap and be free of holes and rips above the knee (frays and tears are considered holes.)
• Must cover underwear and backside at all times
• Must not sag (must be worn at waist level)
• Spandex, bicycle, pajama, yoga, and flannel pants are prohibited.
Shorts/Skirts
• Shorts and skirts must be knee length or longer
• Be composed of nontransparent material at least to the knee length
• Must be free of holes and rips
• Must cover underwear and backside at all times
• Must not sag (must be worn at waist level)
Dresses
• Be composed of nontransparent material at least to knee length
• Must be knee length or longer
• Midriff, back, cleavage, and collarbone must remain covered at all times
• Sleeves must have a measurable underarm seam
Shirts
All shirts must meet the following criteria:
• Sleeves must have a measurable underarm seam
• Must be able to be tucked in even during movement (although it does not have to be tucked in)
• Midriff, back, cleavage, and collarbone must remain covered at all times
• Be composed of nontransparent material
Footwear
•Footwear must be worn at all times. Slippers, house shoes, or the like are prohibited.

Here's an idea.... don't enroll your kid in a school with rules you don't agree with...or..... join the PAC and lobby to have the rules changed.
