From the smog I saw in China watching the news a few days ago I am sure Chinese must think they are number one on this subject but that thought is only secondary to wishing they had fresh air

Don't shake it too hard. Could be bad for you.
Nothing there to damage , maybe some neck muscles .

three quarters of the earth is sedimentary rock.20 to 25 percent of that sedimentary rock is carbonate rock made of former life. Life loves carbon.

I'm not sure I like this 'outsourcing emissions' idea.

It makes the countries who actually produce more emissions look like they should carry less liability for their actions.

From the article...........

quote

A draft report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has also noted this trend. It said that western countries were “outsourcing” emissions to countries like China through the production of cheap goods. quote

Which shows the IPCC is unwilling to take on China and that China is a highly developed nation. The IPCC and UN know that China will never ever bend to their will. There is not a shot whatsoever of getting China to be responsible for their own emissions and distribute their incredible wealth with true developing nations.

They are simply making excuses for their unwillingness to call China what they are.

Petros, China agreed to the purchase and they should be the ones paying for their part of the deal.

Here is where the greenbeans and neocons can at least find some common ground.

China is a big problem for them. They have to justify their cowardice on not taking on the one of the world's most powerful and booming economies.

They will never call China a developed nation... if they do the house of cards collapses.

Rhetoric aside, there's no reason why the IPCC cannot push their mandate fairly for all countries involved.

No they don't... you might but the IPCC and UN have made it clear... China is a developing nation.

Gosh I wish I had a clip of the woman from Africa going off on the US (at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conf) for keep bringing up China and that Obama should leave them alone and just sign the wealth distribution papers.

She said something like...

"The US should stop bringing up China. All the work was done here and all President Obama had to do was come in and sign the treaty which mandates funding to nations affected by Global Warming. We did not need to hear him lecture us... all he needed to do was sign the treaty."

Rhetoric aside, there's no reason why the IPCC cannot push their mandate fairly for all countries involved.

Ummm... well...

F*** their mandate.

What the heck are they going to do with billions except squander them as they have in the past.

From what I understand, China is doing more than the U.S. to curb emissions, even if some of their cities look like a complete s.hithole right now.

I agree that they shouldn't be able to hide behind the moniker of being a 'developing nation' just as we cannot shift the blame to the U.S. for 'outsourcing emissions'.

As for squandering millions, that's a drop in the bucket compared to the billions we will be squandering if we are stuck in oil mode.

The underlying solution to the IPCC's mandate relates to the actual number of 'emitters' on the planet. If they had any interest in achieving their goal, that is the only solution.. A tax on Western nations will have no impact other than to pad the pockets of the UN (that is hurting financially) in the raft of admin fees and consulting charges that they require to keep afloat

Yes that is what they are saying over there. Meanwhile their emissions are rising.

Again... people making excuses to get the pressure off China and get into N. America and Europe's money.

I agree that they shouldn't be able to hide behind the moniker of being a 'developing nation' just as we cannot shift the blame to the U.S. for 'outsourcing emissions'.
They aren't a developed nation.

And they have to outsource China's emissions for this wealth distribution scam to work and cook the books.

As for squandering millions, that's a drop in the bucket compared to the billions we will be squandering if we are stuck in oil mode.
Well when someone can develop a real alternative it is where we will be. We have already squandered billions on failed alternative fuel sources.

Our own Governor of Massachusetts squandered $21 Million on a solar company which then filed for bankruptcy and skipped to China.

He STILL says it was a good investment. He lost $21 Million in tax payer money and says it was a good investment and he'd do it again!

My old man was a millwright who did night school in Eng. He designed and built things that get really hot that are massive. Sh¡t like boilers for power stations back in the day when we were all going to die from acid rain. He was involved in converting powerplants from straight up coal to coal/nat gas with scrubbers.

There is no way in hell the Western companies that designed and built these Chinese powerplants without CH4 co-jets ready to fire when the get their mitts on the NG.

Actually, we could keep our standard if the population went down a notch.

And before anyone says it, decreased population growth is still population growth.

I agree. But America's population will continue to increase at a rapid rate. The influx from latin america isn't going to end any time soon. They come for a higher standard of living.

**shaking my head**

I can hear the rattle from here.

The country burning the fuel is the one creating emissions, not the country providing the fuel.

Oil and coal are good sources of energy and Canada has lots to sell. Properly administrated we could all become very rich off of this.
