So do you think you should critisize your own country's inaction before blaming the US?

Bull crap.... we have the fattest, well fed, well dressed poor people in the world. If anyone is going hungry it is because instead of using their Welfare money for food they run scams for lottery tickets and booze. They blow their cash on smokes, booze, and drugs and whine that they don't have enough to eat.
So do you think you should critisize your own country's inaction before blaming the US?
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]When Lt.-Gen. Roméo Dallaire received the call to serve as force commander of the UN intervention in Rwanda in 1993, he thought he was heading off on a modest and straightforward peacekeeping mission. Thirteen months later he flew home from Africa, broken, disillusioned and suicidal, having witnessed the slaughter of 800,000 Rwandans in only a hundred days. In Shake Hands with the Devil, he takes the reader with him on a return voyage into the hell of Rwanda, vividly recreating the events the international community turned its back on. This book is an unsparing eyewitness account of the failure by humanity to stop the genocide, despite timely warnings
That's what upper and middle class Americans tell themselves when they demand tax cuts, so they don't have to think about the millions of children who go to bed hungry each night. I've traveled the US and I know your country has rampant poverty. I've seen it. Its not as bad as Mexico or the Dominican Republic, but its there and one of these days the problem will reach the point where it bites. Its the reason why muggings and robberies are far more common in the US than in Canada
BTW, I've also seen poverty here in Canada too. Our social system is stronger here and the poor aren't as desperate as their American counterparts, but its still embarrassingly high.
Canada didn't join the coalition of the bribed and coerced against the Iraqi people.
Regarding Canada's inaction, I suggest you watch "Hotel Rwanda" or read the book "Shake Hands with the Devil".
The level of effort the US put into seizing control of Iraq's oil wealth probably could have solved every human rights problem in the world.
''The fattest lot of people you've ever seen.''
Obesity is considered a medical condition by physicians. It results from eating bad food, not necessarily from eating too much food.
Therein lies the liberal lie... we never got all that oil. Iraq retained control of it.
http://www.irinnews.org/report.aspx?reportid=40766The UN Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, known as MONUC, confirmed on Wednesday that rebel groups in the northeast of the country had been engaging in acts of cannibalism.
"The rebels forced people to consume body parts of their family members," Patricia Tome, MONUC's director of information, said.
MONUC said it had received witness reports of rebels belonging to the Mouvement de liberation du Congo (MLC) and its ally, the Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie-National (RCD-N), being involved in cannibalism and forcible cannibalism in Mambasa and Mangina, respectively situated 50 and 70 km northwest of Beni.
A preliminary report, which has been forwarded to the UN Security Council and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, cites 117 cases of arbitrary execution, 65 of rape, including child rape, 82 cases of abduction either for sexual purposes or work, and 27 of torture.
"There were horrifying things in the report concerning cannibalism, such as babies whose hearts were torn out and taken away or given to someone to eat, of small children who were killed, mutilated, and of people who were executed in front of their families," Tome said....
Sure those are causes. So are unemployment, illness and divorce. Also adults with these problems tend to have lots of children, who aren't involved in the decision making process regarding how the welfare check gets spent.
BTW... I'm against giving poor people money and minimum wage. That gives them discretion on how to spend it. I support public housing, free food, clothing and education. If you want to gamble or buy drugs, cigarettes and booze... get a job.
You really are full of self deceptions today.
BTW, I was referring to the DRC in 2003. People weren't getting thrown in the wood chipper there either, but they were being hunted like bush meat. Soldiers would go into villages and kill every man and rape every woman.

Why don't y'all look up Security Council Resolution #1973 and read what it actually says, paying particular attention to its paragraph 4. It does not call for a no fly zone, it calls on UN member states to take all necessary measures to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas, short of sending in an occupying force. Since Mad Dog Moammar is using his air force against civilians, a no fly zone will obviously be part of that, which means knocking out air defenses and military aircraft. But it also means interdicting Libyan troop movements and their supply lines, destroying tanks, artillery, supply depots, and all the rest of it. The wording also leaves open the possibility of sending in special forces on the ground.
Agreed. This is a civil war and we've joined the rebel cause at the behest of the UN. And I think we were right to do so.
''However our poor gorge and sit on their butts all day.''
Here in Gopherland we have plenty of working class folks who are just as morbidly fat as the poor. That's because they too eat that McDonald's sh!t instead of having real food.
Sadly Canadians were caught up in the US led distraction in Iraq. That's why I read Amnesty International. I want to know what's really going on, rather than be led by propaganda from someone with an agenda to make themselves and their friends wealthy.Oh yeah? Did you call yourself a liberal? Try saying that around here and you would be considered a mean spirited racist. You'd be called a TeaBagger if you try to build some rules and regulations on how the poor should spend THEIR ENTITLEMENTS.
Down here our poor get everything to live a comfortable life. Instead they snort at the trough and demand more.
How dare anyone compare our poor to the poor of Third World Nations.
YAWN
Oh, my mistake. So, what did your nation do about it again?
Why are the Libyans innocent? Gadhafi is a Libyan? So are many jihadis. Can you articulate the reasons why you think the Libyans are innocent?
