50% + 1 is simply not enough to force constitutional change and tear apart a country.
And the YES side cheated by lowering the voting age to the ludicrous age of 16. Are they NUTS??
Thankfully, the sane people emerged victorious, despite the shenanigans of the YES side.
You mean like Hillary Clinton?Classy.
Real classy.
You like insulting little old ladies??
How is that cheating?
You mean like Hillary Clinton?
I'll take you seriously when I see you leap to her defence. 'Til then, bow to the Shiny Hat, peasant.
Must have been a Scotland comment that caused 'the look'.Classy.
Real classy.
You like insulting little old ladies??
Didn't say that, did I? Said I'll take you seriously when you leap to her defence. There's a whole thread here insulting everything about her, not just her politics. Get stuck in, son!You don't think a one-time change in voting rules in favour of a demographic you know will vote a certain way is somewhat questionable???
You will NEVER hear me jump Hillary on her looks, or her dress, only her lack of moral fibre.
You don't parade some old hag before the world as the leader of the (supposed) most powerful nation on earth. You will NEVER hear me jump Hillary on her looks, or her dress, only her lack of moral fibre.
Which of his two bald heads do you think he polishes when thinking of that picture of the Queen, or Hillary?Didn't say that, did I? Said I'll take you seriously when you leap to her defence. There's a whole thread here insulting everything about her, not just her politics. Get stuck in, son!
Until then, you're just another Shiny Hat worshipper trying to disguise himself as a defender of old women.
You don't think a one-time change in voting rules in favour of a demographic you know will vote a certain way is somewhat questionable???
It occurs to me I never answered your question. I insult little old ladies basically on the same basis on which I insult other people. See, I've known a lot of little old ladies, and most of them are tough enough to take it.Classy.
Real classy.
You like insulting little old ladies??
Questionable in what way? They thought they could get more votes if they allowed more people to vote? Well yeah, are we arguing against allowing people to vote? David Cameron's response was promising Scotland the moon and threatening doom if they voted Yes. Is bribery and threats a more legitimate tactic than young people voting?
It is a good thing that the question of Scottish independence was settled democratically? Or is it just a convenience for you?
Yeah, and look at the shape Greece is in.The Greeks used to vote at 30 years old.
At the age of 16 I was a full-blown Marxist.
And that's supposed to convince me?![]()

Nope.....then I might have agreed with you more.
Seriously, it was just an example of how far you can travel intellectually as you grow up.
When you had to be 30, there was no "Greece." There was a collection of independent city-states. Most of them had no democracy at all, and the ones that did limited voting to about 10% of the population.Ahhh...today you can vote in Greece the year you turn 18, so about half of 17 year olds can vote.....that MIGHT explain their problems today.
When you had to be 30, they were the greatest nation on earth.
Well, that's pretty much Colpy's dream world. If only they had guns. . .Slaves, women and young men couldn't vote in ancient Athens because they would be cheating. They are unlikely to vote for the interests of status quo so obviously they shouldn't vote.
