So the team that slashed the civil service with far deeper cuts than Harper has dared introduce: that cut corporate taxes and continued the shift from the people to the rich: that was so "socialist" that it made the Canadian Banking system the strongest in the world, is "left of centre."

Methinks you should take a very basic course in politics.

Me thinks you should take a reality check. But there are many dippers in BC that think the BC liberals are right wing . Like you they are wrong. Of course even the greens are right of our dippers.

CALM DOWN!!!!!

We all agree that Toronto would be safer if everyone carried hand guns. Think of how much better this party would have been if everyone carried a loaded weapon?

In our city, you can't even try to shoot the head of the local biker gang without him shooting you back and killing you. That's terrible.

Is that what happened??? I don't know.

Nobody thinks shooting back in a crowded street is an option.

BTW, I did the math....the murder rate in Toronto this year is 2.1 per 100,000 per year.

Big deal.

Well Colpy; It's kind of a big deal for the families of the deceased.

Neither of the kids who were killed were bangers. Both doing well at school and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to happen quite a bit.

As far as the shooters go, they'd gun each other in a crowded church. Total idiots.

No solution unfortunately, not under our present legal system.

Yeah, big deal, Colpy, as long as you aren't included in the 2.1  Ford will be heartened!

I don't see that it happens regularly at all. A lot of cases its one gang banger hitting another gang banger. Its the exception that it happens to involve other parties. Ironically, it happened twice in a couple of months but its still the exception rather than the rule.

I would say that Ford takes more of the blame. His cuts to policing and services to vulnerable communities did not help. Different name; same ideology.

It does, of course, go much deeper than Harper's encouragement of a gun culture and Ford's stupidity. It goes to 30+ plus years of tac cuts and service reductions. It foes to 30+ years of Right wing ideology that has seen the growth of poverty and the end of work for many.

Gangs and violence are spawned in that vast underclass where hopelessness has become endemic. That is not a creation of Harper and Harris but of the whole ideology that begat them. We are slowly returning to a nineteenth century social division.

Come on, that's bs. The police cannot be everywhere, these thugs will do their thing regardless of cop power. This is a community problem, opportunities are there, these ****bags prefer to go "gangsta"

I noted on Global News tonight that the mayor of Toronto is both ignorant and stupid................stupid for saying TO is the safest city in North America and ignorant for saying it in the context of freshly dead and seriously injured people. What a f**King maroon!

Toronto is safe, you have to realize how big of a city it is...

He may be ignorant and/or stupid, but what do you expect him to say? "Toronto Sucks -- head of the hills! Let's all move to Vancouver!"? And I am not sure about safest, but it is safe. About that he is right.

"The incident is being thoroughly investigated and I will be speaking further in a timely manner, Toronto inspite of its many attributes has safely issues right now", is what I might say. I certainly wouldn't say it's safe when you can't even expect to attend a barbecue without being shot!

You'd never say 'it isn't safe', after all, it's a good bet that thousands of people in Toronto attended barbecues and weren't shot.

I guess that means that you fundamentally agree that Toronto has safety issues or you would be hesitant about attending a BBQ. I do not agree and I will attend future BBQs and have in the past. Fortunatly this one was not in my neighbourhood. If it was common place and something expected, then it wouldn't be such a story. The fact it is the exception is why there is a story here.

I go anywhere in the city without a problem, if you choose to attend a party in the hood with criminals present... **** happens. Don't try to tell me that doesn't happen in BC.
