Well, sh*t.

Thrilling heroics. Lose anyhow.

Some head-scratching coaching decisions too, Tec. A 65-yard FG attempt??? Get otta here CC. A challenge flag thrown when everyone and their grandmother knows that it is an automatic review???

Brett was sketchy at times and almost brilliant at others - he needs a lot more game time. I guess the really good news is that we played the most disciplined game of the entire season. The bad news, any hope of making the play-offs is all but done and dusted. We have games coming up against the Bombers and the Redblacks which we might have a decent chance of winning, maybe, hopefully.

We'll beat the Hoovers and the Black and Deckers.

Actually I think you are right about that prognostication, pete.

Our D-line really inhaled at times - they reminded me of remarks I made about the Cats running through the Esk D-line like a knife through butter. I mean Walters just waltzed through our guys without so much as a howdy do. I really like what I see of our two new young receivers. I think Brett will improve but jeez he's a jittery little fella out there at times and way too hesitant especially when huge holes open up in front of him and he stands there like a deer in the headlights before he decides to run. It makes me wonder what the coaches are telling him to do.

Hope you were able to stay warm during the game it looked really cold there. Glad the rain stopped.

I want Taman to actively pursue Mark Trestman in the off season for a position as our HC and he can also rob the piggy bank and try to coerce Orlondo Steinauer to join our crew - we could do a lot worse and there is no way in hell I want Benevides - the soprano wannabe or LaPo, much as I like the latter. I'd also take Dickinson if we could get him out of Calgary.

Watching the Jays play the Angles right now. Bottom of the 4th and the Jays are ahead 10 - 1 - Angels finally got one of theirs home.

Higgins is available.

Tressman is the offensive co-ordinator for the Ravens.

I know that Trestman is with the Ravens right now, Kreskin.............things could change though and of all the available talent, he is the one I would want above all others.........Higgins included.

We don't need a new coach.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, pete................I think CC should go at the end of the season. Some of the coaching decisions he's made are way more than head-scratchers......they are totally WTH? When I saw him throw that challenge flag last night, all I could do was shake my head and wonder if he knew how silly he looked. I would prefer that our coach didn't look silly as it brings all kinds of other things into consideration - for instance, does he have a frickin' clue what he is doing out there? He should not have taken on the job of defensive coach - not that I blame him for that as it was not his decision alone. The Rider org is sitting on a bundle of money - why didn't they go out and get a defensive coach for the team?? It took Corey way too long to deal with the penalty problem when it was more than abundantly clear that had he done so sooner we may very well be sitting with at least a couple of wins under our belt. I applaud him for finally addressing the issue as the lesson obviously sunk in - for most of the team. I do believe that the hit that saw Richards ejected from the game - and probably a call from the commish - was a rookie mistake. The roughing penalty was, in my mind, somewhat questionable. I can live with the occasional off-side and procedure calls though if they result in a 3rd down I'm not too pleased - it is the 10 and 15 yarders that absolutely infuriate me. I'm happy to see they played as cleanly as they did last night as it helped keep the game within reach for most of the night.

So in that vein, I am thinking of launching a 'Let's get Marc Trestman to Regina' campaign. I am all ready designing the buttons. ;-)

Even if we beat both Ottawa and Winnipeg twice then somehow get by BC, the game against Hamilton on Oct 9th will put a swift end to those victories - unless miracles happen and this team does a complete turn around both defensively and offensively and on special teams. If you think that will happen - good on you. Me of little faith, I don't.

The only half decent team in the west is Calgary, and even they look average at best. No reason the Riders can't beat the rest.

What is a coaches' most important job? Team cohesion. Players want to play for him as team and they want to win as a team. If you take that away from them it's just guys earning paycheques for the sake of a paycheque. It is no longer a team.

He is doing a damn good job trying to build a team out of young third stringers and a rookie QB after serious unforseen player losses.

As for Pint letting him go was necessity. His propensity for teenage girls is why he is gone.

How is he doing with the Hoovers? They get pounded every game.

We've been able to keep the scores close enough that show the drive and skill to win is there regardless of the number of puppies being chucked into a full on dog fight. Now they have game experience that can only snowball into any even tighter team.

Tossing a flag after a bad call shows he is on the ball regardless of it being reviewed anyways. We've seen bad calls on field stand far too often. Refs shouldn't need to be coached from the sidelines by Chamblin.

I'm not the type to jump on and off a bandwagon. I can handle a bad season when the team is a team that works as a team.

4 wins gives them 3rd place. Tiebreakers with BC will bite them but still enough games left to leapfrog them.

East is pretty weak too. But balanced enough to not have a crossover this year.

End of 1rst Q: Redblacks 14 - Saskatchewan 10

Riders score a major and get the 2-point convert - trail the RBs by 4 points.

Half-time: Redblacks 14 - Riders 10. We had another major called back on a Rider penalty. McCallum missed on a chip shot that cost us another 3 points. CC pulled Brett after an interception in the end zone and replaced him with Sunseri. The panel thinks the idea stinks and was unfair to Brett - the majority of folks on Rider forum agree with them. I'm just sitting here scratching my head. Oh, and Richards cost the Riders another 15 yards after obj con which saw his opponent taken off the field by the medical cart. This is the same guy that was ejected from the game last week for a similar call. We are still in the game because after coming out strong in the 1rst Q scoring 2 TDs - the Redblacks - well Hank actually have cooled off considerably and Sask's defensive line finally started playing in the 2nd.

There's some life out there..........so some hope too. GO RIDERS.

I really think that this decision to play Sunseri stinks, IRBS.

I just started watching in the 3rd but he doesn't look too good. Why the switch? Another injury?

I am sorry. It pains me to say this but this team really sucks. I see no redeeming qualities right now. The defense has just laid down. The offense has not yet arrived at the stadium. I am very afraid that they deserve the 0-9 they seem destined for.

... and another turnover.

I think the Saskatchewan players are now trying to help Ottawa. It's the only possible explanation for these penalties.

No injury. Brett threw an interception into the end zone and blew a chance for a TD - rookie mistake that wasn't helped by another Rider rookie changing his rout resulting in the pick. CC pulled him for the next series and Tino was in. Be interesting to see if he sits Tino now that he too turned the ball over.....if this keeps up we will run out of QBs.

No need for sorrow, IRBS.............they do suck right now. There is absolutely no consistency. We are back to taking horrible costly penalties. The defense is Swiss cheese and the offense is either being given all the wrong plays or they simply can't execute them. Brett never should have been pulled and we just got another big penalty in the end zone giving the RBs another shot at a major. Oh this is rich, CC just threw the challenge flag on the call...........clearly there was interference so now we lose a time-out and probably give up another TD. Yep this is about as sad as it gets.

Their biggest gain wiped out by penalty now. Best punt return wiped out by penalty. I am afraid there is room to be sadder.

So you are down by 25, why are you punting? Yes it is 3rd & 10 but seriously? Why punt? The defense will likely let them score from wherever so give your offense another shot.

And some wonder why I am questioning CC's leadership.

Yeah, I'm sad. I am sad about all the guys on the team who I know are great players but aren't for whatever reason being allowed to show they are. I'm sad for the Rider fans who deserve better than this. I am also sad to see someone who I once admired greatly come to such circumstances. That someone being Corey Chamblin.

Weston being one of those great players as he just showed us.

It has descended into a comedy of errors.
