Ouch!!!

Ok, that was not nice Ton! Starbucks? That was a bit off side dude!

Oh come on, Loc's a big boy and can handle himself just fine. He's not above a little bit of needling. It's just a bit of Saturday morning fun ;)

If you accuse him of wearing a toque, to tight, I'll unfriend you!

Are neck beards out of bounds too?

But a debate and a fundraiser are two different things. Everyone should have the right to attend a debate, attending a fundraiser is a choice, opinions on fundraising a different matter entirely.

I don't think everyone has the right to attend a debate though. The context matters. Were all the candidates invited for instance? If it's a debate organized and held at a conservative organization, I don't think Chow would have much leg to say she has a right to be there and be heard.

I don't know, whether it's an all candidate debate or not, it is still arguably part of the election process and as such, should be open to whomever wants to attend. Personally I'd outlaw that before outlawing fund raising, if I were to outlaw anything.

Although I tend to somewhat agree with your premise, these debates are hosted by private groups. Their debates, their policies I guess.

So I have no issues with any of the runners boycotting any of them for legitimate reasons. And I think Doug's fits that.

I will fault any candidate that participates in a debate during an election where payment is required to attend. Anyone that participated should be ashamed of themselves. Were I a voter in Toronto, things like that would affect where I placed my vote.

I can see a debate as a fundraiser for a charity or something but not a private club.

It would be nice if people understood the difference between a debate and a fund raiser, lol.

Ummmmmm........What he said was his constituents could not afford the $80.00 and/or the 3 hours off. Are you/he suggesting that they could afford $125.00.....?

Fair enough. I still the notion of it is wrong and we shouldn't be moving towards more private when it comes to anything to do with elections.

So I have no issues with any of the runners boycotting any of them for legitimate reasons. And I think Doug's fits that.

As I said earlier, it would factor in my voting decision. If anything needs to be completely open and accessible in politics, it should be election campaigns.

I can see a debate as a fundraiser for a charity or something but not a private club.

Then maybe not during an election.

For a debate. The $125 was for a fundraiser. He is saying his constituents can't afford it. Not the same people he is asking money from for a debate.

Yes, I get it, you don't know the difference between a debate and a fund raiser.

You probably don't understand the concept of Ford Fest either.

Well free food is compelling but honestly long line would keep me away from just about anything.

When I went it was a nice summer evening. And once you start in the line, you feel you have invested too much time to quit. We got our food though. Well organized. Some times when you are last in line they are out of stuff.
