As George Carlin said: "You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers. People just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And now they're after your social security money. They want it back. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal elitist friends on Wall Street.
And do you know something? They will get it..."

Republicans and Democrats offer starkly different assessments of the impact of several of the nation’s leading institutions – including the news media, colleges and universities and churches and religious organizations – and in some cases, the gap in these views is significantly wider today than it was just a year ago.

While a majority of the public (55%) continues to say that colleges and universities have a positive effect on the way things are going in the country these days, Republicans express increasingly negative views.

A majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (58%) now say that colleges and universities have a negative effect on the country, up from 45% last year. By contrast, most Democrats and Democratic leaners (72%) say colleges and universities have a positive effect, which is little changed from recent years.

Kinda funny how GOPers always complain about the 'liberal' colleges, then when education and intelligence is brought up, they crow about the POTUS's education. Which came from those 'liberal' colleges they hate so much, LOL.

Republicans are anti-intelligence, anti-life, anti-health and anti-environment. Their entire focus is on money and power to the detriment of our life support system. Most of Trump supporters don't even have a high school education and those that do, lost their capacity for critical thought somewhere along the way. All you have to do is read the responses on here from the right and you will see that there is a complete lack of brain function beyond parroting the party line.

penn is probably a little more centrist compared to the other ivies -

most would probably say somewhere on the liberal side, politically, but somewhere on the conservative side, fiscally

penn republicans and democrats are both active

clinton and biden have come to campus, but so have jon huntsman (this year's commencement speaker) and mccain
How liberal is UPenn?

At least Trump (unlike some commentators..) has an education

The liberal colleges in those days didn't have a bunch of f*cking snowflakes whining, assaulting people and committing arson and rioting because someone who had a different political viewpoint than some of them was coming to speak.
Christ, at four university students in Ohio were gunned down over their right to freedom of speech and freedom of peaceful protest. The shits these days have basically spit in the face of freedoms. What you have, according to them, is the freedom to agree with them or shut up.
People used to go to university to be challenged, not lock themselves away from the real world and live in an echo-chamber where a different opinion is now tantamount to some kind of Constitutional violation. "Oh my god! Someone disagreed with me. I need a warm drink, a blankie and restitution." It's a far cry from the day when my buddy used to hold a weekly round table where we would gather and discuss politics and political policies and where all points of view were welcome.

You do realize that the protestors the National Guard was shooting at were considered to be liberals don't you? You seem to have a very different memory of the 60s and 70s than I do. Political unrest on US campuses was pretty much the norm.
