The supreme court still has a vacancy and he has done nothing, nor enlisted anyone's help in Congress, to overcome senate obstructionism in filling that vacancy.

There was nothing he could do. He lost the midterms. Who's help could he enlist?

If he had anything at all going for him surely he could have gotten support for at least some of his policies. Face it, he just wasn't liked, wanted or trusted by his colleagues. I don't think he's much of a negotiator. Too hell bent on getting his own way.

He's had plenty of time since March of this year to lobby Congress and get people on his side. He was just too timid to get it done and was more bent on improving his international image by playing up to world leaders.

protests against Obama in Peru where he was called "bestia capitalista" (capitalist beast):

earlier there were protests against him in Greece where, again, he is viewed as a right wing capitalist puppet

Is There Nothing That Obama Couldn't Do?

By Kate on December 24, 2016 8:13 AM | 13 Comments

This was the moment that the rise of the petulance began to flow...

OBAMA’S MIDNIGHT REGULATION EXPRESS: The goal is to issue more rules than the new administration could ever repeal.

Kimberly Strassel:
Perhaps nothing has more underlined the Obama arrogance than his final flurry of midnight regulations. With each new proposed rule or executive order, Mr. Obama is spitefully mocking the nation that just told him “enough.”
The technical definition of a midnight regulation is one issued between Election Day and the inauguration of a new president. The practice is bipartisan. George W. Bush, despite having promised not to do so, pushed through a fair number of rules in his final months. But Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were more aggressive, and Mr. Obama is making them look like pikers.

Mr. Obama has devoted his last year to ramming through controversial and far-reaching rules. Whether it was born of a desire to lay groundwork for a Clinton presidency, or as a guard against a Trump White House, the motive makes no difference. According to a Politico story of nearly a year ago, the administration had some 4,000 regulations in the works for Mr. Obama’s last year. They included smaller rules on workplace hazards, gun sellers, nutrition labels and energy efficiency, as well as giant regulations (costing billions) on retirement advice and overtime pay.

Since the election Mr. Obama has broken with all precedent by issuing rules that would be astonishing at any moment and are downright obnoxious at this point. This past week we learned of several sweeping new rules from the Interior Department and the Environmental Protection Agency, including regs on methane on public lands (cost: $2.4 billion); a new anti-coal rule related to streams ($1.2 billion) and renewable fuel standards ($1.5 billion).
The fundamental transformation will continue until January 20.

Obama did nothing of great consequence in eight years. Now that his days in office are numbered he's running off in all directions trying desperately to do something that will impress the people and that they will remember him for.
It won't matter what he does in the next few days; Trump will undo it anyway. His most futile action will be imposing some kind of 'punishment' on Russia for their alleged election interference. If that does anything it will only make Russia more aggressive and hostile toward the U.S.
He is making a show of uniting Israel and Palestine after turning his back on Israel for years. He is making a show of getting tough on terrorism after eight years of making excuses for their brutality. He has been liberal with pardons; how many of the pardons were deserved? We'll never know!
What a loser!

Christian pastor to President Obama: For 8 years, I've watched you be the better man

Emerging Christian pastor to President Obama: For 8 years, I've watched you be the better man

In this open letter to President Obama, Pavlovitz writes about how history will secure the President’s grand legacy and body of wor. After watching President Obama for eight years, Pavlovitz shares his observations. Here are some excerpts from his June piece.

• I’ve watched the way you’ve absorbed a billion body blows from your critics; brutal words that run far deeper than policy or platform, words composed within poisoned hearts long before you served a single day in office.

• I’ve watched you bombarded with a daily molotov cocktail of white privilege and hidden or overt racism disguised as objective opposition.

• I’ve watched your wife and children attacked with a ferocity and malevolence that defy any sense of decency and that have no precedence.

• I’ve watched your birthplace called into question, your personal faith ridiculed, your very humanity discounted.

• I’ve watched you endure the incessant, bitter venom of those for whom the color of your skin was always going to be a problem.

• And through all of it, I’ve watched you be the better man.

Pavlovitz tells President Obama that “In the face of a sustained, spitting, violent, raw-throated hatred, you’ve never responded in kind.” He writes that Obama never allowed himself to be defined by bigotry and never disrespected his critics — by becoming them. This, Pavlovitz says, will be President Obama’s greatest legacy.

The truth is, many of us understand that the Evangelical Right, the NRA, FoxNews, and far too many ordinary folks living here were simply never going to be okay with a man of color leading them and succeeding—and yet you have done both.

Eight years later, those same people still strain to bait you into reciprocating bitterness and in fulfilling their toxic prophecies of you, while you simply continue to do what you do with nobility, compassion, good humor, and steadfast, unapologetic conviction.

John Pavlovitz tells President Obama, “You live the grace so many Christians invoke but rarely model.” The pastor adds, as a father, he realizes his children are always watching him, taking cues from the way he treats people and how he responds to adversity. He knows his children watch how he cares for those in pain, how he handles mistreatment and that his words will always be secondary to his conduct. “This is where I find my deepest gratitude for you in these days.” He tells the President, “For eight years you have worked for those who have been marginalized, even while so many have sought to marginalize you. “

Pavlovitz writes that he and so many others are trying to live passionately yet with integrity and are committed to standing upon principles and never upon people. He says, “We are seeing the way you’ve done it and are moved to move similarly together.”

So you’ll forgive me if I speak informally right now, and if I use words used often brandished by your critics to undermine the work you’ve done and the life you’ve lived and the character you’ve shown.

Without a trace of irony or sarcasm, let me simply say:

Thanks, Obama.

I think before any meaningful evaluation of Obama's 8 year term can be accomplished, it has to be remembered that his term had an added dimension that the previous 43 presidents didn't have to contend with.

Very nice indeed but none of that has to do with managing the country's business, ie economy, foreign policies etc.
It's all about race relations. How do you suppose ethnic issues have become increasingly more volatile for the last eight years?
The way I see it, Obama and wife are racists themselves. They have focused heavily on issues concerning black Americans, promoting them above any other race.
I don't think it did the Obamas or the country any good to keep bringing up the subject of past racial inequalities like they did. A President is supposed to represent ALL ethnicity

Well, to Mr Obama's credit, he was able to really get his golf game in tune and take a lot of tax payer sponsored vacations over the last 8 years

Why shouldn't Trump take advantage of this to chip all the elected officials and any CEO's that do business with the Government? Start with that Mansion Obama is said to be renting. Be a hit on youtube I'm quite sure.

You forgot that he got the MAJORITY vote from whites, Hispanics, and blacks. Therefore, he did his job while Congressional Republicans failed to do theirs. By the way, to this day he has the HIGHEST approval rating of any president which again proves that you are incorrect.

Interestingly, Bush took off much more vacation time as we have proven on this forum with earlier links but his golf game sucked by comparison. ;)
