$20 for a piece of ceramic and some chickweed? hah! Not me, buddy.

Seems Obama may have the H1N1 Avian flu - as he is ducking an issue that as the Times states - even his fircest critics are onside for a pardon -

Well we had Mr. Dithers - Is Obama Mr. Indecisive?

Obama ducks out of pardoning black boxer - Times Online

For once President Barack Obama seemed to be facing the easiest of decisions. Offered a chance to right a grievous historical wrong and to honour an African-American hero, he needed only to issue a presidential pardon that even his fiercest political rivals agreed was long overdue.
Yet there has so far been no pardon for Jack Johnson, the first black heavyweight boxing world champion, who was jailed for immoral behaviour 100 years ago after he flaunted his relationships with white women.
Not only has there been no happy ending to a disgraceful episode in American racial relations, but Obama’s grim caution in handling the Johnson case has raised questions about the willingness of the president and his advisers to risk controversy over inflammatory issues of race, crime and punishment.

It is not so much a question of loving Obama so much as it is one of hating him with a passion. The guy has been in office for only nine months (and already won the Nobel Prize, much to the disgust of Obama haters); he has more than three years to go. To criticize him ceaselessly at this point smacks of hatred, nothing more. We still don’t know what he is going to accomplish in his presidential term, most of his term still has to unfold.
Please tell us what Obama did between Inauguration day and the 28th of Feb 09 - closing date for achievements etc - for the NPP - Seems that you are the only one in the world that knows - Now share with us poor uninformed, low brow, chicken eating, beer drinking, lip smacking peasants - We need to know - otherwise life is worthless - Please inform the peasants -

Nuts. You want to talk about hatred? Look at the way gopher goes after anyone that's a little right of Chairman Mao. And then there's you; to hear you talk Harpy's second name is Satan.
So you want to continue snivelling about "hatred" when people point out that Obama got the Nobel for looking good next to G Dumbya?

''Existing-home sales rebound to 2-year high''

''Existing-home sales climbed 9.4 percent in September to their highest level in more than two years, fueled by demand for cheap properties and an $8,000 tax credit for first-time buyers, according to industry data released Friday.
Sales of existing homes, including condos and single-family residences, reached an annual rate of 5.57 million units in September, their highest level since July 2007, according to the National Association of Realtors. ''

Good news! Let's see what the Republicans have to say about that.

Dunno about the States but after overinflated prices on housing dropped to more reasonable levels, it has been a buyers market here. Those nutjobs that built those monster houses and mortgaged themselves silly found themselves without a job and had to sell their monster houses for a lot less than what the mortgages were. lmao
So I would imagine sales are picking up here, too, but I sure as hell am not going to blame that on Harpy or Iggy or Laymton.

Such a simple decision for Obama to make, wouldn't have cause any problem today except maybe with a handful of inbreeds living in the hills somewhere. Obama has proved again and again that he is incapable of making a decision. Give him another Nobel.

The czars have been given immunity. The White House has told Congress it will reject calls for many of President Obama's policy czars to testify before Congress - a decision senators said goes against the president's promises of transparency and openness and treads on Congress' constitutional mandate to investigate the administration's actions.
White House: Policy 'czars' won't testify - Washington Times

All Hail the King.

Ironsides, quoting Washington Times? Isn’t it owned by the Moonies (by Reverend Moon)? Anyway, it is a Republican mouthpiece, same as FOX news. I wouldn’t believe anything I read in Washington Times unless it is confirmed in the reputable press (New York Times, Washington Post, CNN etc.).

Why ask me, Goober? I didn’t give him the Noble Prize. Ask the Nobel Prize Awards Committee. No doubt they had their reasons. Anyway, it is a private award; it isn't a government award, so they don’t have to tell their reasons to anybody, if they don’t want to.

Also, I understand two of the five members belonged to the centre right party in Norway, and they also voted to give Obama the award.

lmao And we all know how accurate the newsmedia is these days. Well, almost all anyway.

“What is truth?” asked McLuhan in 1974, and he answered with a quote he attributed to Agatha Christie’s iconoclastic investigator Hercule Poirot: “Eet ees whatever upsets zee applecart.” As usual, he was referring to the "truth" in the media.

Not just the Obama haters. Those that feel the NPP should stand for something are also disgusted.

he has more than three years to go. To criticize him ceaselessly at this point smacks of hatred, nothing more.

Nonsense. To criticize him ceaselessly can easily mean that one disagrees with much of what he is doing. To not criticize him shows a complete lack of understanding of economic issues.

We still don’t know what he is going to accomplish in his presidential term, most of his term still has to unfold.

We know some of what he is going to accomplish...ridiculously huge deficits and debt for beginners. I believe this is the biggest problem the US faces and Obama is not helping in the least. That has nothing to do with hatred, Bush or religion btw.

Pretty much, yup.

Criticizing whoever is in the seat of power is also SOP for voters. It's got nothing to do with hatred and everything to do with pastime.

I think this squawking about hatred is simply the excuse people use to pigeonhole those that they disagree with because they are too inept or lazy to think of an accurate term.

Barack Obama must stop campaigning and start governing

President Barack Obama still steems to be running for office, rather than running the country, says Toby Harnden

By Toby Harnden
Published: 3:55PM BST 24 Oct 20

Perhaps we should not be surprised that the land of the permanent campaign has produced a president like Barack Obama. During his White House bid, Mr Obama's staff argued that his masterful oversight of the machinery that ultimately got him elected was his highest achievement.
In many respects this was true, though Mr Obama was more chairman than CEO. Even Republican political operatives acknowledge that the Obama '08 campaign was a thing of beauty.
Essentially, however, Mr Obama won because of his persona – post-racial, healing, cool, articulate and inspirational. In a sense, therefore, his greatest achievement in life is being Barack Obama. Or the campaign version, at least.

Therein lies the problem. While campaigning could centre around soaring rhetoric, governing is altogether messier. It involves tough, unpopular choices and cutting deals with opponents. It requires doing things rather than talking about them, let alone just being.
Mr Obama is showing little appetite for this. Instead of being the commander-in-chief, he is the campaigner-in-chief.
After a disastrous summer that saw his approval rating drop more than any other president at the same stage since Harry Truman in 1953, Mr Obama has temporarily abandoned the campaign-style events promoting his stalled health-care reform initiative.
Now, he is stumping for Democratic candidates in states he won last year but which are now in danger. Last Wednesday in Hackensack, Mr Obama took to the stage to proclaim: "Your voice canchange the world. Your voice can elect Jon Corzine, governor once again of New Jersey." Change the world? Mr Corzine is a former Goldman Sachs executive whose political career was launched when he spent $57 million of his own money on a Senate seat in 2000.
The rally was an attempted 2008 reprise. There was the spontaneous (or not) cry of "I love you!" bashfully acknowledged by Mr Obama with a "I love you back."
There were the Obama-led chants of "Fired up! Ready to go!" and the ubiquitous "Yes We Can" signs.
And as he always does, Mr Obama blamed every economic woe on the Bush years, conveniently forgetting that Republicans are no longer in office and it's been his mess for nine months now.
Campaigning and raising cash is what Mr Obama does best. Next week's fundraising events in Florida and Virginia will bring to 24 the number of such functions he had headlined since entering office in January. During his first year in office, Mr Bush attended just six fundraisers.

Ok, we can play by your rules.

Czarist Washington

The Framers of the Constitution knew that the document founding our democracy must be the anchor of liberty and the blueprint for its preservation. Wisely, they provided a balance of powers to ensure that no individual and no single arm of government could ever wield unchecked authority against the American people.

Kay Bailey Hutchison - Obama's Many Policy Czars Let Administration Elude Accountability - washingtonpost.com

"Recently we saw the kinds of dangerous details that can slip by when a powerful federal official isn't put through the Senate confirmation process. Before assuming the post of "green jobs czar," Van Jones had engaged in such troublesome activities as endorsement of fringe theories about the Sept. 11 attacks. He has ties to a socialist group. The Senate confirmation process would typically provide an appropriate forum for identifying and discussing these types of issues and for allowing for public input. Jones's case highlighted the lack of accountability that is becoming commonplace under the Obama administration. "

That is an op ed piece by a Repulbican, ironsides. Hutchinson is a Republican senator, who is trying to become the governor of Texas. Anything she says must be taken with that spirit, she is campaigning for governorship of Texas, and as such would be expected to criticize Obama heavily.

Texas is a Bible Belt state, Hutchinson is pro choice. So I assume Texas Republicans (who will choose a candidate; in Texas, choosing the Republican candidate is as good as electing the governor), so they already look at her with suspicion. She has to polish up her credentials with the Texas Republican Party (which is mostly composed of the religious right) and criticizing Obama is a good way to do it.

So anything she says has to be taken in that spirit, she is trying to placate the highly conservative Republican base at home.

As to Van Jones, sure he slipped through, but it is nonsense to say that it wouldn’t have happened if he had been subject to confirmation process. There have been many examples where somebody was confirmed, but had to resign from his post eventually for some scandal or other.
