Re #940.

Ron, all I would like to see is for the Bush detractors to realize that he is no longer in office, and cease and desist with the insults that have been forthcomming even long before Bush was elected.

I would also like to see the end of the "selected, not elected" nonsense. I mean, how long can you go on and sing the same old loser song?

And if these turds can not refrain from insulting a former President, could they give us an approximate statute of limitations? When will the blame and insults stop?

Admittedly, there were some extreme posters, carried by people who probably are extremists, that does not in any way, shape or form measure up to the disrespect the Left afforded to George W. Bush.

The one short outburst by Joe Wilson equivalent to Harry Reid calling GWB a loser and a liar? Or the name-calling of GWB by Nancy Pelosi? By Senator Durbin? By any number of Liberal Democrats?

Finally something positive.

House votes to deny all federal funds for ACORN

WASHINGTON – The House voted Thursday to deny all federal funds for ACORN in a GOP-led strike against the scandal-tainted community organizing group that comes just three days after the Senate took similar action. "ACORN has violated serious federal laws, and today the House voted to ensure that taxpayer dollars would no longer be used to fund this corrupt organization," said second-ranked House Republican Eric Cantor of Virginia.

Obama's never found guilty by association

Lorne Gunter, National Post
Suppose it was revealed that the pastor who had married George and Laura Bush, baptized their two daughters and ministered to their spiritual needs for 20 years was a raving white supremacist who, from the pulpit, preached the separation of the races, claimed that the promiscuity of African-Americans had quickened the spread of AIDS and mused about how America might be improved if black people were sent back to Africa.
Or what if Mr. Bush, while president, had appointed an admitted neo-Nazi to a senior advisory post within his administration, a man who openly endorsed the use of child labour in Third World sweatshops and accused all Muslims of being terrorists or terrorist sympathizers hellbent on the destruction of Western civilization?
Or how about former vice-president Dick Cheney, the American left's favourite dark prince? What if it were revealed he had been one of eight members of a foundation board that had also included an ex-mercenary who, while never convicted of an assassination, nonetheless boasted about of having shot at several Third World leaders and lamented aloud how he'd wished he'd done more?
The leftist blogosphere would never believe that Messrs. Bush and Cheney were unaware of the radical positions taken by these associates. Lefty bloggers like Daily Kos and Moveon.orgwould see these affiliations as proof positive of a secret Evangelical- fascist agenda submerged deep within the administration bent on provoking wars of aggression for commercial gain. And the bloggers would be cheered from the sidelines by CNN, the New York Times, CNBC, CBS and National Public Radio.
Now what if on top of all this, it was revealed that George Bush had once done work for an organization that then stuffed ballot boxes to get him elected and routinely counselled clients on how to cheat on their taxes?
Barack Obama is guilty of associations similar to all of these less than eight months into his administration.
The most recent disclosures are about Acorn, the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, of which Mr. Obama was not only once a prominent member, but which he had hoped to involve in, among other things, next year's U. S. census that will help determine the number of Congressional districts in Democratfriendly inner cities.
Several Acorn employees have recently been caught on tape counselling apparent inner city residents on how to cheat on their taxes, and more than a dozen others have been charged with submitting fraudulent voter registrations on behalf of the Democrats in last fall's presidential election.
Most members of the American media are wilfully blind to the possibility of a pattern in all this. They refuse to see how the President's past associations might reveal a reflexively radical nature Mr. Obama has worked had to disguise.
The minister who performed Mr. Obama's marriage to Michelle, Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, who baptized their two girls and was the family's pastor for 20 years, of course has said many famous and inflammatory things. Best known is Rev. Wright's call for blacks to sing God Damn America, rather than God Bless America. Even since Mr. Obama's inauguration, though, his former preacher has continued to blame plots by whites and Jews for America's troubles.
Then there is Van Jones, Mr. Obama's so-called "green jobs czar," who resigned earlier this month after it was discovered that he was a self-described "rowdy communist" and black nationalist who had as recently as four years ago signed a "Truther" petition. (A Truther is someone who believes the Bush White House or CIA were really behind the 9/11 attacks.) On the night after the 9/11 attacks, Mr. Jones had helped organize a vigil at which speakers denounced America, expressed sympathy for "America's victims" around the world and stated their solidarity with Muslims.
And, of course, Mr. Obama had sat for three years on the eight-person board of Chicago's Woods Fund with William Ayers, an unrepentant '60s radical and former member of the Weather Underground, who still brags about setting bombs in laboratories and businesses with connections to the Vietnam war.
On far less evidence, most Western journalists were able to convince themselves that George Bush was the most dangerous, illegitimate president ever. Yet they give Barack Obama a free ride.

Ensuring The Permanence Of Poverty

Posted 09/17/2009 06:36 PM ET

Spending: President Clinton said reform legislation would "end welfare as we know it." That was in 1996. The current administration appears determined to take welfare to heights we've never known.
America's tried. The country has spent $15.9 trillion of other people's money on welfare since the mid-1960s. But it has failed. As noted in the Gospel of Matthew, we will always have the poor.
It would be vain to argue otherwise. The evidence is hard, the facts clear.
"Welfare spending was 13 times greater in fiscal 2008, after adjusting for inflation, than it was when the war on poverty started in 1964," says a new study from the Heritage Foundation.
"Means-tested welfare spending was 1.2% of the gross domestic product when President Johnson began the war on poverty. In 2008, it reached 5% of GDP."
Apparently, we just haven't spent enough. At least that seems to be the position of the White House. It has opened the spigot of the fastest-growing government expenditure. Over the first two years of this administration, annual federal welfare spending will jump by a third, from $522 billion to $697 billion, says the Heritage study titled "Obama To Spend $10.3 Trillion On Welfare."
The cost to the families funding the programs is enormous. Heritage says each household is paying $560 a month this year and will pay $638 a month in 2010.
But this administration is just getting started. Over the next decade (which includes the current fiscal year), welfare spending will hit that $10.3 trillion mark — $7.5 trillion in taxpayers' money disbursed by Washington, $2.8 trillion in taxpayers' money handed out by the states. None of this even includes what the federal government will spend if it successfully takes over health care.
The spending party began early with an assault on the Clinton-era welfare reform law. The 1996 Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act had ended the practice of Washington sending more welfare money to the states when the states increased their caseloads. But the policy was reversed through a provision in the February stimulus bill.
Self-identified neo-liberal Mickey Kaus, writing in Slate, called the "insufficiently publicized" and "deeply troubling" provision in the legislation a "liberal conspiracy to expand the welfare rolls."
"If only for political purposes, I figured, Dems would have to wait a few months or years before sabotaging Bill Clinton's major domestic achievement," wrote Kaus. "It took them two weeks."
In the 1950s, welfare spending was less than 1% of GDP and 4% of government expenditures at all levels. It is now the third largest federal expenditure, following only Social Security and Medicare entitlements and education. Fourth is national defense. For all the criticism leveled at the previous administration for the taxpayer dollars spent on the battlefield, Obama, says the Heritage study, "will spend more on welfare in a single year than President George W. Bush spent on the war in Iraq during his entire presidency."
The gains from the Iraq War are evident. A brutal anti-American dictator was toppled, a terrorist-friendly regime was displaced and a representative government was installed in a region filled with oppressive states. So what of extravagant welfare spending? What have been its tangible benefits?
Government welfare programs have done nothing but institutionalize poverty. The country is spending more than it ever has on the poor, yet neither poverty nor want has been eradicated.
Accelerating welfare outlays will only make the problem worse.

Lets not forget that Obama worked for ACORN.
Obama and Acorn - WSJ.com

The newest video at BigGovernment.com from an undercover filmmaker and an associate who have rocked Washington with their revelations about ACORN, the organization for whom President Obama once worked, shows a worker appearing willing to help smuggle underage girls into the U.S. for prostitution.
ACORN worker to 'prostitute': How much?

Working with or for organization's like ACORN was really in vogue. To bad they were mostly conmen.women.

At least they were girls unlike other adminstrations that tapped into Boys Town gays supplied by the other Larry King and brought them to the White House.

What do people expect when they vote for Luciferians? Apple pie for all?

Proof of Obama's character as a chicken-livered, yellow-bellied, noodle-spined coward. Perfect indication how he would stand up to Putin, Ahmedinejad, or any other dictator:

He did not have the courage to appear on FOXNews Network.

What more need be said?? His pearshaped, bigassed spouse had more courage.

Calling it "a story that shocks the conscience," Tuesday night Sean Hannity devoted considerable time to former President Jimmy Carter's assertion that President Barack Obama's critics are motivated by racism.
Carter recently told NBC News:
I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich joined Hannity to unpack Carter's slanderous comments. Gingrich pointed out the obvious: that the Left's rabid hatred of President George Bush was "vastly greater" than any animosity currently being displayed towards Obama.

"Many people thought Jimmy Carter failed, too," Gingrich added, "but I don't think they voted against him because he was white."

THe housing bubble burst in 2007. A downturn, but not a meltdown. The meltdown didn't start until the mortgage collapse in 2008 (admittedly a reaction to the housing bubble burst).

OK, so it is a matter of semantics, isn't it, as to when the meltdown actually started.

The credit freeze occurred about a year ago, when Lehman Brothers went belly up. Until then we had run of the mill recession. Once Lehman Brothers went under, financial institutions stopped lending almost completely, resulting in the credit freeze and necessitating two huge stimulus packages.

I have said it before, if Bush had spent a few billion dollars in bailing out Lehman Brothers, we would have had run of the mill recession, and not the almost depression that we had.

So another way of looking at it would be that the meltdown started a year ago, in September 2008.

Uncle Sam's Plantation
Back on Uncle Sam's plantation
Star Parker - Syndicated Columnist

http://www.urbancure.org/starparker.asp

Six years ago I wrote a book called Uncle Sam's Plantation . I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.

I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas -- a poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.

I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps.

A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960s by Democrats, that were going to lift the nation's poor out of poverty.

A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from "How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?"

Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems -- the kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others.

The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools, and broken black families.

Through God's grace, I found my way out. It was then that I understood what freedom meant and how great this country is.

I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996 which was passed by a Republican controlled Congress.

I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth-producing American capitalism.

But, incredibly, we are now going in the opposite direction.

Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh..."

Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.

There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation.

In an op-Ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post, Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short term economic stimulus.

"This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending -- it's a strategy for America 's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, healthcare, and education..."

Perhaps more incredibly, Obama seems to think that government taking over an economy is a new idea. Or that massive growth in government can take place "with unprecedented transparency and accountability."

Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the Department of Energy, the Synfuels Corporation, and the Department of Education.

Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 -- The War on Poverty -- which President Johnson said "...does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done. It charts a new course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty."

Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same. But black families are not, with triple the incidence of single-parent homes and out-of-wedlock births. Government made it easy...you no longer had to have a husband. When women of all colors chose the government to wed instead of a man, she then became government's slave.

It's not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama's invitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal responsibility and freedom.

Freedom...the dirty little secret...you make your own choices.

Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?

"The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."

''Do I hear an echo?????''

You do every time you have a forum Republican attempt to tie ACORN with Obama while disregarding its association with the GOP.

Attempt? He WORKED for ACORN! The Democrats have billions of dollars in the que to go to ACORN in the Obama Stimulus Package. The GOP is trying to stop it.

It short... you FAILED.

Obama supports the group that would assist people in setting up prostitution rings with underage illegal girls.

In summary: the way to help people is to not help them.
This will allow their entrepreneurial, capitalist spirit to rise to the top.

I read an article that showed that drug dealers in LA operate much the same way as any franchise operation - you have your territory, and you hire lackeys to do the work at low pay, and everyone hopes for a chance to move up a link in the chain. That's the kind of thinking we need to encourage. So, we need to stop fighting illegal drugs, we need to allow it to flourish. That will solve the poverty problem in two ways.
