Lot of thoughts, Cap't. I'm generally "quiet" while engaged in other things. News publications while interesting, quite often that is all they are and generally not the WHOLE truth. When a dyed in the wool Republican/Conservative/Liberal/Democrat lunatic quotes a publication of the same ilk, I pretty much put the post under the heading of BULLSH*T. Especially when the poster already has an established credibility rating of ZERO.-
Loads of stuff to use for picking on any particular politician. The duds n culls (scammers n thieves) of the planet seem to be drawn into politics. DUHbama is just one.
Not any more. People do the weirdest kinds of crap. Voting duds n culls into office is just one of them.

Seventy-three percent of the new civilian jobs created in the United States over the last five months are in government, according to official data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In June, a total of 142,415,000 people were employed in the U.S, according to the BLS, including 19,938,000 who were employed by federal, state and local governments.
By November, according to data BLS released today, the total number of people employed had climbed to 143,262,000, an overall increase of 847,000 in the six months since June.

There's "government" and then there's "government"- like there's bean counters who sit in offices and then there's people doing necessary work, where profits shouldn't be made. Like lots of watch dog jobs, care for children, the handicapped, aged and institutionalized. Things life fish and wifelife enhancement and regulation, vehicle inspections, weights and measures inspections etc. etc. So I'm not sure whether you are meaning the 73% to be good, bad or indifferent. I do agree that whatever can be done by the private sector should be, but even then they have to watched.
I just heard on C.B.C. news that Obama is increasing in popularity, now at 57%, the highest rating since the death of Osama Bin Laden! That's the best news today.

- If there is a level of presidential privelege and profligacy and naked indulgence higher than the level embodied in "the imperial presidency" which began with another president who came from relatively humble beginnings named Nixon, then it is embodied by Obama and his crowd of world class moochers at the public trough.

This per the IRS. Federal employees as a group owe a whopping $3.4 billion in unpaid taxes, including 1,181 employees of the Treasury Department delinquent on a total of $9.3 million in taxes. (But do you recall the most famous delinquent of all? Tim Geithner had to pay $42,000 in back taxes before his confirmation as Treasury Secretary.)
