language laws
i just hate their politics and anti-english laws, do you see any anti-french laws outside quebec? its spose to be a free country, not a fascist or communist nation... if they would instead respect the anglophones quebec would be liked a lot more... quebec is very friendly as long as you can speak french... one positive aspect is that quebec city is one of the safest cities in canada, ive been there and its quite friendly... a lot still support 101 though, its because they want to protect the language, but they should leave anglophones alone and mind their own business instead of bullying anglo communities.... the rest of canada doesnt discriminate francophones, we see them no different than any european cultural background, we are multicutural and most of us speak english.... respect should be on both sides, not just for french... seperatism is nonesense and it wont bring quebec far.... quebec was once a place everyone enjoyed until the language laws were passed... now you see many have fleed or are trying to leave the province

Generally if you treat people with respect, it is returned. French are scattered an concentrated throughout Canada. Once upon a time I worked and lived at a mine. Our bunkhouse had French from New Brunswick and Quebec, Metis from Manitoba, Ukrainians from Saskatchewan as well as Europeans from all over. There were no fights and you could count on every person not to let a rock fall on your back. These are our fellow Canadians!

the war between the english and the french is history..... existance shoud be long gone, we should be civilized among each other... i dont think the play they wanted to make in quebec city is an insult, it represents an important piece in history
but if you were french, would you want to be reminded that you got your asses kicked. I don't think a re-enactment on their turf is being very neighbourly. It is kinda like rubbin' their noses in it.
i am part french and a mixed european background and i dont think that way.... i know we lost but hey im not gonna make a big deal about something that happened over 200 years ago.... people have learned to get along more and most of us are christian so i dont know what the big deal was about the re-enactment thing.... i can tell people of quebec still have that sentiment about that period of time when the french lost.... look at what the language laws and the bloc part tell you... i guess in a way they have a point
The language laws have nothing to do with resent over losing a 200 year old battle. It's simply about giving our language and culture better chances to live on and flourish.
I don't think Quebec sucks at all; I lived in Montreal for a short time as a teenager on my own, and loved the place.
I think seperatists suck, and I think the Federal government's continuing efforts to kiss their ass is outrageous.
When the Supreme Court found Quebec's Language laws to be unconstitutional, and Quebec invoked the "notwithstanding" clause........the Federal gov't should have disallowed that legislation.
Yes, they can do that.
Quebec entered Confederation with her eyes wide open.........and this country was designed to have a powerful central gov't, with subservient provincial legislatures, meant to give voice to local concerns.
The idea that Quebec's gov't has taken on (laughable) "national" aspirations is a joke.
We are one nation: Canada.

But they didn't because that would have caused of Canada as you know it. Quebecers would not have accepted having Ottawa negate what a majority of Quebecers approved of.

I think the language thing is an extreme for the most part. However I have heard a French-Canadian person tell a Belgian-French French teacher to learn how to speak French. lol Kind of like a fork telling a spoon how to hold soup.
Anyway, I think Quebec is a pretty province and MOST of the people are nice. It is politicians and bureaucrats that make situations unpalatable. The flatlands, on the other hand have lots of nice people, but boring countryside. hehe
As far as French language being lost, that's hardly likely. My pop-in-law speaks Anishinaabemowin and the natives have been oppressed into losing their cultures a lot worse than the French.

When Kweebeckers and in particular separatists decide they no longer need to suck on the ROC's teat, I will concern myself with their opinions. Separatists are like spoiled children that need to have their toys taken away and their asses paddled.
