Hey wasn't this the reason that Harper lost the last election?

When the Quebec Liberals passed their religious neutrality bill last week, it was an attempt to fulfil an election promise*and quell a debate that's been flaring up in the province for the better part of a decade. Instead, it's*prompted protest and criticism from both sides of the debate.*

Bill 62*states that anyone giving or receiving public services must do so with their face uncovered. The law applies to municipal and provincial services, including public transit, health care*and libraries.*
As a province, Quebec has a unique relationship to secularism that dates back to the Quiet Revolution of the*1960s, when Quebecers rejected the powerful grip of the Catholic Church.

The idea of legislating religious neutrality and providing a framework for requests for accommodation on religious grounds has been*debated*repeatedly in Quebec's legislature.*The challenge, though, has always been*actually setting the rules, including who*they target*and just*how far they extend into daily life.*

Pretty sure Harper lost the last election based entirely on his own record.

The Holocaust Memorial only had a few Jewish supporters complaining and they are less that 1% of the population so who were the other 19%?

In part but not totally.

harper lost because he didn't have a snappy catch-phrase like Sunny Ways or Budgets balance Themselves (we all know they do)
I don’t recall the sunny ways line being said until his speech after winning. I doubt that or the other line had much effect. He did say up front during the campaign that he’d be running deficits.

Then he should have won a landslide. Fact is he lost because of the way ridings are set up in Canada. They heavily favor the east even though the money comes from the west.

I think US meddling in the Canadian election had a lot to do with it.

Yes, another screw by Obama.

Trump will still be in power when we hold our next election, please make sure Trump is aware of when we hold our next election, we will need his help.

** screw up**

The Sunny Ways line is just plain ludicrous.... Regardless, the comment regarding Budgets Balance Themselves is, well, you tell me.

Does this make any sense?

Are you comfortable with appointing (not the you necessarily voted JT) a person that is at the helm of what is essentially a trillion dollar company, someone that believes that Budgets Balance Themselves?

... To me, it's nothing short of spine shilling that the general population would not seriously reconsider voting for anyone that made that comment

Yeah, right. He pretty much lost the election over the Niqab issue.

The point is that Trudeau is a bloody hypocrite. If this law had passed in Alberta, British Columbia, even Manitoba he'd be screaming it was racism. But Quebec gets a pass; as usual.

The niqab issue just helped to decide who would be his replacement.

Once the NDP firmly rejected his ban, they lost their main support in Quebec and people strategically voted Liberal.

The NDP's failure to hold onto power was the other issue that brought the Liberals to power.

But the fact remains that Trudeau has stabbed Muslims in the back.
