I can agree with that one.I'm aware of that. The issues pro and con for unions/non-unions are different than for public/private sectors.

Sucks to be you. I wouldn't do the job for that. Transit driver has to be one of the worst jobs and living in TO would make it doubly bad.
It's ****ty enough to have to do split shifts.
Driving a bus is one of the worst jobs?
You've got to be either
a - kidding
or
b - completely disconnected from reality
Do you honestly think you could do it day after day after day through Toronto traffic. It would be a mind-numbingly boring job where you have to be on your toes all the time. I would snap by the 4th week.
split shifts, like the Purolator guys.
So a Purolator Courier driver must be one of the worst jobs going, too?
Or a school bus driver?
Boring makes it one of the worst jobs?
Sounds pretty goddam easy to me. Drive a bus. Stop for passengers. repeat.
If you find that difficult, you must be a mental midget.
Purolator drivers get out of the truck on a regular basis. School bus drivers aren't usually behind the wheel as long but generally speaking the job has much of the same suckage value.
I didn't say it was difficult. I said it was boring (mostly because it isn't difficult).
you said it was one of the worst jobs out there.
You've got to be kidding.
Have you ever worked for a living?
Cleaning the puke out of city cells drunk tank. What job with the city of TO would you suggest is worse than driving a bus?

Public transit is a necessity in a city like Tdot. Not that I think drivers should be paid like Doctors.
I agree.
I wonder how far that initial $4,550,983.82 will get a city $4 billion in debt.
The irony aside. Can you point out the grammar issues?
I agree. Which is why the bulk of the blame falls on Miller.
The nice thing is, some of the union leaches will be laid off, not fired. Not to mention, there will be lots of job openings at private waste management companies. Only this time, they'll get paid appropriately for being a jumper.
That's only bad if you are bothered by puke. Lots of folks don't mind messy stuff. Hell, I worked in the hospital laundry when I was in high school. Saw lots of nasty **** but it never bothered me.
By your standards, then, driving a bus is only bad if you are bothered by driving a bus, and is therefore not 'one of the worst jobs' out there.
Have you ever worked in a sewage treatment plant? Have you ever been in one?

I don't know much about To lack of work ethic but I do know how it works here and to be fair it is neither union nor management's fault but this is a small town. Coffee break is 10:00, lunch 1200 etc. The city employees go back to the yard for each break which uses up much of the short work time between breaks. This came about not because of any union problems but because some simpleminded retired people here would complain to city hall that the workers were just sitting around instead of working. So now they all go in and the simple minded have no clue of the expense they created for themselves.
