No argument from me. I don't tend to worry about that stuff and feel it is just a means of distraction.

That should be two sentences (period after Cannuck...capital Y). I don't care but grammar seems to be a concern of yours so I thought I would point it out.
Speaking of priceless.

Funny how the on topic part of that post was ignored, and you chose distraction instead.

He has a long track record of being quite frugal with the public purse.

Like voting to increase spending on the TTC?

2011 salary
Councillor’s salary $ 99,619.52
Mayor’s salary $167,769.94

Since Houston has shown that $1 / year works for a councilor, I think that Ford and the councilors should look at themselves first. Clearly they are overpaid by a significant amount.

I had trouble following you point because of the atrocious grammar. I wasn't ignoring it. I promise.

Whoever put such a clause in any government employees "Union Contract" in the first place was STUPID BEYOND BELIEF.

There is absolutely NO excuse for any such clause to be involved in any persons employment contract.

I say, fire the ones demanding it, and if their successors want to try to claim it, fire them and keep on doing exactly that till you get someone reasonable to deal with.

Agreed. It probably started out as rerouting obsolete positions but morphed into something else. Instead of firing the ones that demanded it, the ones that granted it should be fired. It's quite often the management that are incompetent.

Public transit is a necessity in a city like Tdot. Not that I think drivers should be paid like Doctors.

I agree.

I wonder how far that initial $4,550,983.82 will get a city $4 billion in debt.

I had trouble following you point because of the atrocious grammar. I wasn't ignoring it. I promise.
The irony aside. Can you point out the grammar issues?

I agree. Which is why the bulk of the blame falls on Miller.

The nice thing is, some of the union leaches will be laid off, not fired. Not to mention, there will be lots of job openings at private waste management companies. Only this time, they'll get paid appropriately for being a jumper.

The overwhelming majority of municipal services are required and I seriously doubt bus drivers are paid like doctors.

TTC Transit Operator (Drivers) Recruitment

"Pay and Benefits:

The TTC offers competitive wages and benefits including: Healthcare and Dental plans, Group Life Insurance and a Pension Plan. As per the Local 113 ATU Collective Agreement, the starting hourly wage rate for this position is $22.56 (rate after successful completion of training)."

Hardly over paid in my books. While you may feel this is high paying, I certainly wouldn't do the job (for that kind of money) in any location let alone Toronto.

The nice thing is, some of the union leaches will be laid off, not fired.

You must have got a traffic ticket this week. Cops went from being respected to being union leaches.

My neighbour is a TTC driver. He hasn't been paid that low a wage in decades.

Back to distraction?

I understand your devotion to the brotherhood, but is your argument that fragile?

Sucks to be you. I wouldn't do the job for that. Transit driver has to be one of the worst jobs and living in TO would make it doubly bad.

Earnings
Classification Average Hourly Earnings 2011

Males $24.81
Females $21.33
Full Time Employees $24.81
Part Time Employees $16.24-
Decades of experience doing a crappy job with tremendous responsibility and only 30/hr....I'd have a tough time calling him over paid.

I don't imagine it's a fun job, one I wouldn't want, but I don't see how that makes it "suck to be me".

Unless your infatuation just had to drag me back into the conversation.

Services like Police, Fire and EMT Services, I don't factor into the equation.

Inside workers, outside workers, garbage collection. These are all areas where the wages far exceed similar (and identical) private sector wages. For far less efficient work.

How much more experienced do you get after 5 years at the same job? In the context of operating a bus.

You think 30/hour is good money.

You should. They are very inefficient organizations

So are you now arguing private sector vs public sector instead of union vs non union?

How much more experienced do you get after 5 years at the same job?

5 years worth.
