It is part of the labor laws that basically make unions un-required nowadays. It is there to stop employers getting rid of people for no good reason and give some job security. No severance is required if you are let go for just cause so I am all for it.

Nothing of the sort. I posted regarding the economy and the federal govt's economic policy. You decided to interpret it as something else.

Did you have anything intelligent to add to the conversation???

That is a misnomer- nobody in the world is owed a job. If I'm hiring someone to do something, the perogative should be up to me when I no longer require the services. Now if I'm working at something producing 100 widgets an hour and the employer replaces me with someone else (girl friend, brother in law, local hooker) who only produces 80, then there is a valid complaint.

Way to go. Let's get people off of the "public tit", and make them really work for a living.

Hey, we're talking Ontarions here,,,,eh
These people were born with a culture of entitlements!
Take them off the public tits, and what,,,do you want them to starve,,eh!!

The Americans gave them the auto industry because they could not produce their own car!!
In return they called them bastards and morons,,,eh,,, heh heh!!
Yeah, it just goes to show you how grateful these people are.
And when they screwed up the auto industry, guess what,, the Can gov baled them out!!! Can you believe it???

Ah, yes, these people expect all of Canada to just keep supporting them.

Er... I'm an Ontarian myself. Please feel free to quote me where I've ever expressed a sence of entitlement. Sure I belive in free public education for all, but one would think that's a basic in a developed economy. Beyond that though, again, show me where I've ever expressed a sense of entitlement.

Heck, on many fronts, I think the Conservative Party of Canada spends too much, and I also support school vouchers for Ontario so as to let parents decide. I also opposed bailing out the auto industry by the way. So again, where is this supposed sense of entitlement?

Oh, so many exampled I could give you, more than I have time right now pecking on my iPod in Stbks.
You have probably lived too long in Ont to realize how the other parts of Canada work.

aAnyways, in the interest of time, I'll give you just one irrating eg.

Ont always votes (or almost always) Liberal.
The Libs always instill laws and policies that are good for Ont. The hell with what the rest if the country needs or wants, please Ont and you'll stay in power. The rest of you just suck it up!!

See, I have a right to bitch and complain, it's my right as well !!

Of course you have a right to present yourself as an idiot: I never said that was not your right.

What I'm saying is that you can't assume all people are the same based on how the plurality vote. Guess what! I never voted for my local candidate. I used to live in China too, and possibly to your absolute amazement, I'd met Chinese Christians, Chinese Muslims, Chinese Budhists, and Chinese who adhered to ideologies otehr than communism.

It's pretty damned narrow-minded to assume that a government reflects all of the people under its jurisdiction. The government is the government, and the people are the people.

Another example. The government of Ontario has chosen to defend discriminatory educaiton laws with regards to religion. Again, that does not mean all Ontarians support it. Sure it means a plurality of Ontarians support it, but that's still not all Ontarians.

Enough with the thread-hijacking! This is directed at everyone involved. Numerous posts were removed that had nothing to do with the topic at hand, but were about two posters bickering back and forth.

A different post was removed due to a personal attack.

This is just a sign of what is yet to come. Once Harpo gets his conservative policies in full swing you will start to see mass layoffs everywhere. He has fooled everyone into thinking the economy is recovering while in reality it is still sinking. There will be many federal govt jobs disappear over the coming year and many, many more in the private sector.

Everyone who believed his lies are in for a rude awakening.

LOL

Is Harper responsible for the unrest in the middle east as well? What about them getting rid of Vanilla Coke and Pepsi in Canada? Was he responsible for the Leafs being such a crappy team?

I've found it to be a fairly common phenomenum throughout my life, that once someone is down on someone, then it's impossible for that person to do anything right!

What is really going on here is a move for self preservation, leading up to an election for an
unpopular government. Tories are talking about another common sense revolution which
deals with everything except common sense. In addition it will hurt middle income people
the most. The reason? The last thing you want is to lay people off in times like these as
people lose their homes and the banks get the property back. To cover the losses the others
with home take up the slack in the pay for it category. Secondly the local tax bases are placed
in difficulty, and again the taxes are increased to pay the difference.
Doesn't matter though, as the unpopular government looks like it is doing something, and that
might stave off angry voters. Like that is going to happen. The Liberal Government in Ontario
are not going to get re-elected. Like BC they brought in a very unpopular HST tax and now
the time is up and its time to pay. BC in is a similar situation and they are going pay as well.
Peoples jobs and future don't mean a thing if it means the government can get itself re-elected.

Did I say something about the middle east??? Coke??? Pepsi???

I said he is lying about the economy and that his plans and policies are not going to help it. If you want to read more into that then go ahead and prove yourself a fool.

I applaud him for wanting to scrap the long gun registry and hope he succeeds and maybe relaxes the gun laws further. I do think there are a couple of good points to his platform, not many but a couple. ;-)

Being the best out a rapidly declining group isn't a good thing.

I'm no economist but everything, wages, prices etc. have been over inflated for years mainly due to greed so maybe a major correction is needed to smarten every one up!
