She's a Nova Scotia woman. i.e. From Nova Scotia, Canada.
Once she's across the border, the US health care debt collectors can go pound salt.
She needs a kick in the butt for not being insured to the hilt, but, I'd be damned if I'd pay 500K.............declare bankruptcy if necessary. Millions in the US are. Join the idiots.
So you're saying screw the very people who
SAVED YOUR LIFE!! Next time a Canadian gets injured and has no insurance, I guess they should just leave them outside the hospital door to die..
Well, for one thing, care doesn't get rationed like it does over in the UK. People don't
die in waiting rooms waiting for treatment, like how it happens in Canada. And, we have about 100 times as many medications as you do, as the "list" that's covered over there, is very limited.
So if you get injured, you go to the hospital, they patch you up, and send you a bill. It doesn't matter if you are an adult or child, OR, legal or illegal.
What happens if *I* come over to visit in the UK? Do *I* get free treatment in your hospital? I don't think so! I think I'd get turned away! We don't do that, here in the USA.
Here in the USA, we have government run health insurance. 25% of Americans have it, including a healthy chunk of our children, and MOST of our elderly. WE also have several childrens' hospitals for special treatment, that are absolutely free, even if you DO have insurance.
Ironically, the USA has the HIGHEST cancer survival rate in the world, and the UK, has one of the LOWEST cancer survival rates, according to the UK Telegraph. So . .. that child is more likely to be "left to die" in the UK, than the USA, due to rationing of care, or "death panels", if you like.
So, you're watching too many Michael Moore movies. What you need to pay attention to, is where the heads of state go, from around the world, when they want medical treatment. To the UK? I don't think so. They all come here, to the USA
