Excellent distillery in Oyster Bay.

You really and truly know SFA about addictions. An addict will sell their dead grandmother's panties if it gets them a fix. Not a single one of your ideas has any basis in reality. Especially your half baked ideas about sex.

Addiction exists along a spectrum. You're absolutely correct that a hard-core addict (be it an alcoholic, a gambler, etc.) will do everything he can to get his fix. However, a milder addict, though his self-discipline may be weak, it may be strong enough for him to resist as long as it's not in his face. For example, an addict suffering withdrawal will be focused on getting his fix. But once he gets his fix and is more level-headed, it's during those times that he might try to think up ways to make it more difficult for himself to access his fix next time around. Allowing him to program his debit card to block itself during certain times of the day or certain days of the week or year, or limiting how much money his card can extract daily, can help him control his addiction based on how well he knows himself and his addiction.

Hiding addictive products and services businesses serves a similar purpose. A hard-core addict will just go online to find out where the business is and go there. A milder addict might decide to find ways to block his internet access to certain web sites or during certain times of the day (especially when he knows he's most vulnerable) to prevent himself from accessing that information. He might also try to change his circle of friends to reduce temptation. you're assuming that all addicts are hard-core. They all start off as mild addicts, and that's the group my policies would be targeting.

Tim Horton's is a good example of the successful business of servicing addiction.

That test is there for a very good reason, we should have sense enough to stay off of mountains and acess our capabilitys acurately. Just lust won,t get you very far very often, every ejaculation is measured in brain cells. I read that somewhere. Do not ever tax your reproductive urge.

Poverty in all it,s permutations is a fixed condition of all life forms absolutely necessary to the evolutionary process. All living organisms are subject to want and misery and there is no way to eliminate that from life in the material world and to advocate for such a position to obtain is insane, poverty is absolutly indevisable from biological and intellectual progress. If we were to eradicate poverty all invention would stop, all growth would end and the human race would bore itself into extinction. If you think the lambs will one day lay with the lions you are already very poor. We are all consigned to life on this underworld to suffer the elements for reasons largely undisclosed at primary levels. We are mandated to struggle against poverty and hunger and every breath for as many full terms as is required to finish the individuals tempering for the next experiance.
Just try and imagine the disaster unleashed upon mankind with the elimination of any of the cardinal needs/sins, poverty, want, lies, greed, evil, murder, rape, war. You will not eliminate these conditions for human growth and remain human in the end. Music, poetry all the arts and love itself would cease to find expression. Niether the bees nor the ants nor any fish would suggest such an insane idea.
Ask yourself why every life must experiance dark hours.

Do you, darkbeaver, accept you will become poor?
Therefore, do you think the rich should help the poor by giving alms?

The argument against this is in the Quran 36: 47, which means:
(And when it is said to them [by the believers]: "Expend in alms [to the poor and needy] out of that God bestowed on you",
the disbelievers say to the believers: "Should we feed those that if God willed He would have fed
e; you [Muslims] are only in manifest error. f " )
................................................................

47 e It means: Those whom you enjoin on us that we should feed them and expend on them; but had God willed He could have given and enriched them; therefore, if we give them money, it will mean that we object to God’s command and work contrary to His will!

47 f Because you want to enrich those whom God has impoverished.

This was their excuse, but they did not realize that God tries His servants: the rich by the poor and the poor by the rich, to see who of them will show gratitude and who of them will be ungrateful.

As I said before you really need to learn a bit about addiction. Did you know that there are at least as many people addicted to legal prescription drugs as illegal ones? So much for keeping drugs out do sight.

Yes, but to get access to prescription drugs requires... wait for it... a prescription.

One possible solution would be to require at least two physicians' signatures on any opioid prescription. That would discourage them from prescribing it too frivolously.

Again, if the person is a milder addict, just keeping the drug out of his sight through extremely strict advertising laws will suffice. I agree that for hard addicts, that won't be enough. But why would we want to help addicts only once they've reached rock bottom rather than try to help them before it gets even more out of control?
