Police confirm explosive device removed from SkyTrain tracks

Police confirm the object removed from Vancouver’s SkyTrain tracks on Friday evening was an explosive device strapped to three empty tanks.
After a passenger spotted the suspicious item on the train tracks in Surrey Friday afternoon, police shut down a portion of the line as explosives experts removed the device.
“It’s very concerning,” Transit Police spokesperson Anne Drennan told CTV News. “We have reason to believe this might actually be a very real pipe bomb.”
She said the device was strapped to three propane tanks or small fire extinguishers.
Drennan said authorities will now determine what the capacity of the explosive device could have been if it had exploded.
The canisters will also be tested for fingerprints and other forensic evidence after the explosive device is detached and detonated.
The SkyTrain tracks between Scott Road and Gateway stations were shut down for approximately three hours as police investigated. By 5 p.m. local time, authorities had removed the device and re-opened the line.
“It’s just been laid precariously, perhaps even tossed onto the SkyTrain tracks,” said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger earlier Friday.
One SkyTrain passenger whose commute was snarled by the closure said he didn’t understand how the device made its way onto the tracks, which sit high above ground level.
“Somebody must have brought that up. Someone should have seen them,” he said.

Surrey is where all the lowlifes like politicians and used car dealers live.

If they had a bomb you can bet it was stolen from elsewhere.

It matters not how you get to where when there is someone planting bombs on public transit.
Is this a random act or the beginning of something worse?

That is why the death penalty would be a good thing!

lol You can't unless you tunnel under the river. You can't even get to Delta or New West without crossing the Fraser. Richmond is an island.

Yep, when I was a kid we knew it as Lulu lsland. "Richmond" didn't exist in those days!

You know, I'd forgotten that, JLM..........thanks for reminding me. Lulu Island ....... for some strange reason every time I heard that name I would have mental image of Lulu from the comics - weird eh.

"Richmond" didn't exist in those days!
And still shouldn't.......wonder how those folks made out during the earthquake.........ah well it will all be returned to nature when the Big One hits....talk about building on shaky foundations. Sheesh.

You all know what Delta is......a nice name for Surrey.

What do Surrey girls do every morning.....get dressed and go home.

What does a Surrey kid get for christmas.......a Langley kid's bike.

There are thousands of Scurvy...I mean Surrey jokes.;-)

Oh, and Lulu Island (Richmond) is a sand bar and is sinking by 1/2 inch a year....who needs a quake.
