Just because you're still protesting peacefully, doesn't mean everyone is. And the cops aren't in the game of, nor should they be, in stopping each person and asking their intent, when the **** hits the fan.
That's not to say that any overtly aggressive act should have a blind eye turned to it. But it certainly lends exigent circumstances, to the situation. That should be considered.

Up to just a few weeks ago the right wingers on this forum were all abuzz about defending people's right to dissent in Egypt and other parts of the Arabian world. Now all of a sudden they decide that dissent is not such a good thing after all. If these drugged up delusionals were consistent in their ''principles'' they would repeat what they did before about how it is a God given right to carry weapons in the face of tyrannical government. In fact they should be volunteering to stand up to the government brutality and confront any cop who dares to impede anyone's right to protest. But that would take a demonstration of principle that they don't have.
Can you point out where someone said people can't show dissent?
