Yes, only sixty dollars for the modem, plus a month of free service, plus $5 OFF your bill each month.. you dont have to be a freakin mathematician to figure it out it works out better that way.

It actually makes more sense to own your own DSL modem as you can take it to any DSL provider, as with Cable you only have one choice.

Most DSL providers offer a trade across program for a DSL modem if you give them the cable modem you own.

As well a lot of the big cable providers are now offering the same promotion (shaw included), trade in your DSL modem, get a free cable modem you own and 2 months free service.

Both are trying to get the competitions customers. The industry is in termoil right now having kind of a "gas war" which will make or break some of the corporations involved in this and some of the smaller guys as well.

Ahh, that's kind of cool. Trade in your dsl modem for a cable modem. Although I'd rather keep a dsl modem if i had one. Where else can you use your cable modem? Only with your one cable provider which bites.

Not like most people have more than one cable provider in their areas, ofc there are a few areas that due, but it is rare.

The only issue to consider with buying any modem is it may go obsolete if the Teclo changes it's technology.

Other then that there are no cons, the pro is no rental fee and you can always take it to any DSl provider in many parts of the world as they are D.GMT is most parts of the world, and these modems handle many protocols if you get a good one.

Im trying to wonder if Cogeco will give me a free cable modem for a adsl modem.

You would have to contact them and see if they are offering a trade across program like some of the other cable providers are. I wont say they are and I wont say they aren't because I don't know. :)

Here's my results from another test server. I think these are incorrect because on another account on this computer (which is logged in), kazaa or morpheus are running.
