Rogers.....For years and years..We use all of their services..Cpl of HDTV boxes, cell phones and internet..

I was with Sympatico and Execulink years ago..Rogers has always been dead on for us..

My Downs are around 5 Megs and my ups are around 800 Kbs..That speed never varies more than a cpl of hundred either way..Sometimes as much as 900 Up..Never lower than 4.7 Down..

Just recently switched from Shaw to SaskTel (DSL high speed and MAX television bundle).

We've noticed, over the past couple of years, Shaw's average connection speed has started to drop; not to mention the number of "pings" my firewall has dropped due to sniffers trying to compromise our PC (although with Linux I was not all that concerned).

We've also noticed a few outages here and there, which was something we rarely had not more than a year and a half ago.

It was decided to give DSL a try.

So far, so good. Seems as though SaskTel gives you a bit more for your buck (more channel bundles to choose from) and the interactive menus offer more in the way of on-line information (local news, theatre information, weather, etc.).

Connection speed has been good, from what I can tell. Streaming music and downloading software and ISO for my Linux system has performed just fine. It's also nice NOT seeing that network activity light blinking away like crazy with all kinds of traffic, even when the PC is off-line.

It's also nice to be able to quickly check for e-mail messages or how your auctions are doing on eBay, right from the TV set.

They also didn't charge us for installation or for the equipment we're using. Can't say the same for Shaw when we signed up with them.

It's only been a couple of days, but it's been working out to our advantage so far. I can also say that they're customer service skills have improved.... at least towards new customers

Comcast - USA. Just for comparison. Is this good?

transfer rate: 4747 kbits/sec
This is not a speed test!
transfer efficiency: 100%

I get both cable TV and cable modem at 1/2 price, plus free VoIP
phone service.

Telus ADSL in West Vancouver, B.C.

The Good: Decent ping, does not enforce bandwidth cap, no bittorrent lag.

The Bad: Speed is SLOW compared to shaw.

The Ugly: Port 25 outbound is blocked, no way to get home networking without the slow telus wireless router.

That's my ISP for you.

I really wonder if any Canadian ISP Rogers or Sympatico really have a clue about either customer service or "support".

I was told by a Sympatico "tech-support" person that my computer needed repair becuase this Junk Speedstream 4200 keeps dropping the IP address....

Just like Canadian politics, we have to choose the lesser of evils if we want anything!

I am with Telus and download is 2500 or so.
I tried Shaw back when thye had a lot of problems with email servers. Speed on shwa was up and down depending on when the neighborhood kids were home and on their chats. Then shaw speed was not much more than a modem.
Maybe they have improved but I don't know that or want to try them again.
