The tough talk amused you guys too when Iraq was being invaded. Geez lookat them go now eh?

Is there a point to this? What kind of statement are you trying to make?

Unless you are an expert on the military affairs in Iraq and not just getting all of your information from moveon(dot)org.

Canadians don't lack knowledge, strategy, ingenuity and heart. What our military lacks is dollars, equipment and a few good men and women.

Until that changes, the only way Canada can challenge the US militarily will be in pretend games.

Is it so wrong that we don't want to be a world power in terms of the military? Even if we do increase our funding and get our act together, our main focus should be defence and defence only. Internationally we should stick to peacekeepers rather than world police.

Oh really.

First off... why would we try to force Canada to include it's own subpar troops into anything? You can keep them. Continue being the fodder for the UN.

You don't even have the common sense to close a hatch on a sub in open seas.

Your tough talk amuses me.

Looks like we have a keyboard commando.

Funny... I've never been beaten in my four years by any Canadian Troops in wargames.

Any facts to show that you are undefeated against the US in wargames?

Internationally we should stick to peacekeepers rather than world police. <-- I think this is an arguement in semantics. I think the two are one in the same. That is just my opinion.

I did and I thanked you. But I'll be honest... In my four years I operated with US Army, British, Dutch Marines... never a Canadian. Even when I was on the Marine Detachment on an aircraft carrier we never operated with the Canadian Navy.

You made a bold statement that Canadian forces beat the US time after time.

I actually did read one of his books. It was a small paperback called "The Walking Dead". I read it when I was a young LCPL. It was about the 9th Marines in Vietnam if my memory serves me correct. I picked it up because I thought it was about the 9th Marines in general, but I think it was about his experiences with that unit. I read it back in the late 80's.

Heres his web site Eagle .I"ve read a few but One shot One Kill was my favorite very interesting stuff
http://www.riflewarrior.com/

I read so many Vietnam books when I was a Marine that I think I got Nam'ed out. I have been reading a lot of Civil War, Revolutionary War, and WWII books as of late.

I am reading "Iron Tears" right now which is about theBritish view of the American Revolution. It is a neat title as the member of Parliment that made the statement after the Revolution was ended

"England shed iron tears over the colonies."

The iron represented the cannon balls and musket balls that England fired at the colonist. The whole statement meant that England never really fired out of anger at the colonist during the war, it was more out of sadness that they had to fight the war. It was a war that England tried so hard to avoid but when it came they HAD to see it to it's conclusion in victory or defeat.

So far it is a good book.

We have a skeleton force that is inadequate to defend this huge country. If the dollars come, then the modern equipment will come and then naturally the people will come. I wouldn't be keen on serving in my green outfit (in the desert) in my helicopter which has a 50/50 chance of falling out of the sky.

You're probably right, but semantics is what it is all about. The same thing said two different ways could elicit totally different responses.
