That is why the Democrats are trying to have the draft reinstated. They are the ones who keep bringing it up.

This was after Charlie Rangel and John Conyers, both Democrats, came out for a draft, apparently under the assumption that if the kids of rich congresspersons and senators had to serve, Congress would vote against any war. (Of course, who knew back then that Bush would decide on his own to declare war against Iraq?) Following Rangel and Conyers, Sen. Fritz Hollings (D-SC) introduced a companion version of their bill in the Senate. In April, 2004, Republican Senator Chuck Hagel endorsed a reinstatement of the military draft.

Well I am sure you can find a few Republicans that support a draft. I did not read the articles however.

But... it is a Democratic ploy and tactic to scare people and give the Administration more heat.

:? Of course the Dems will bring up the possibility of a draft. Fearmongering aside, the current admin is painting itself into a corner man. It would only be natural for the only opposing party to pull that tactic to add heat on Bushco. If the shoe were on the other foot the repugs will be doing no less.

What would you want them to do? Lie down and wait until it's all over and everthing will be hunky dory again? That won't help the matter much, they'll lose more votes next term if they just bend over and take whatever bush will do to the country they're getting enough flak for not standing up to the current administration.

The Republicans would get crushed if they supported a draft. There have been a few GOP Congressmen who support it, but its toxic. There's no way. The Dems would take back Congress in a heartbeat. That's why its the Dems keep bringing it up.

The US did not get very far in trying to get CA to support the insanity in Iraq. THe US did not get far in the missle shield program.

The only business that the US is interested in is MONEY, POWER and WAR. ........and if there is to be another major world disaster......it will be the US that will author it......as long as it goes on the currrent path.

The US wants war.......then kill it's own population and troops. to do it.
