Are we absolutely sure that the husband abided by his terms of the arrangement?

Mute point since she didn't pursue that in court 20 years ago isn't it?

Some are, some aren't! Are they different from other salesmen or is this just a misnomer that has been passed down through the ages?

I included them with every other salesman. It wasn't the car part which triggered my comment. :)

Maybe not so moot, perhaps after the first court appearance she didn't have enough faith in the system to go back a second time. Most of this discussion so far is speculation because we simply do not know what either of the principals is like. She may well be a real b*tch, he may well be a real A$$hole or they could both be good people. Until we know, it's impossible to say she should be in jail. If she was in jail, I'm not sure what it would solve, she's definitely not a flight risk now as her face has appeared in every newscast and newsprint in the country.

I am baffled as to why you're bending over backwards to absolve this woman of her actions.

You've gone as far to question the fitness of the father, speculated on the fairness of the system and now are questioning her faith in getting fair representation... Despite the extreme latitude in examining everyone other than the perpetrator, you have yet to apply even a semblance of similar objectivity to her.

Jeez... You'd almost think that she one of your friends daughter's or your niece or something.

Simple- we do not KNOW enough details.

Really? Maybe look back and take a look at the posts you have made bashing the justice system, judges, and your insinuations about the Father.

Bashing or speculating on possibilities? As for the system is there any doubt?

Well, considering the father is not being charged with anything and the mother is...I would call it bashing, how about we look at it this way, I can start speculating as to the possibility that you are a child abuser and have, in the past, molested your grandchildren. I have no proof and no real reason for the "speculation", but I'll just put it out there...just because....

But JLM you are talking as though all should be forgiven, and each individual be seen as back to square
one, but they can't do that, she is guilty of kidnapping long ago, that was decided thru the legal system,
a system that would actually rather give custody to the mother, and visitation to the father if they can,
but obviously in this case they could not do that, which tells us that she was not a fit parent for
whatever reason, we do not know the details, but it was definitely something that she wouldn't be proud
of, unless we want to get very dramatic and assume the dad's brother was the judge and he made the decision
on that basis, don't think so. lol

I see your point exacly Gerry. I'm just not for locking her up in jail before she's had a trial and after only if she's a menace.

I'm not questioning her guilt although I'm not sure the crime is "kidnapping" as I have a problem with "kidnapping" ones own kids. I'm also not sure what putting her in jail before a trial will accomplish as everyone in the world knows who she is. Contrary to what Gerry pointed out, I have made no judgment against the father, we simply don't know anything about him, as far as the courts and justice and judges go, we seen shams till they are coming out your ears in that department. Do we have reason to expect the system will be any better here than in was in the Vancouver Airport fiasco? I'm not holding my breath.

Yep, with 50 years of experience with them that's what I've found..............a lot of them are full of sh*t!

I'm not excusing her................I just don't think she should be locked up in jail before we know all the facts.

The fact is that she defied a court order and split with the kid. That is why she is being held without bail Judges take a dim view of anyone defying their authority and react accordingly. Anything prior to that court order is irrelevant.

Yep. that is paramount to any crime.

Here's another one for you to gush all over JLM. I'm sure you will have no problem finding fault with the Father again and finding that the poor mother was hard done by.

I have to say, I cannot comprehend how somene can rip a child from their home, from their country, from their friends and family and call themselves a parent. It's just such a selfish act.

Parents are supposed to sacrifice for their children, not the other way around.

I don't care if it's the mother or the father doing this, how can someone mess with their kids like that?

Why would you need a link finding fault with the Father? You changing your ways now? You didn't need a link for the last one.

Personally, I can not comprehend why someone would do this to a child, but I'm sure JLM could come up with some compelling reasons as to why she, the mother, should come out of this smelling like roses.
