Personally, I can not comprehend why someone would do this to a child, but I'm sure JLM could come up with some compelling reasons as to why she, the mother, should come out of this smelling like roses.

I guess you just don't have the brain power to comprehend even the simpliest of concepts. I've never denigrated anyone in this debate with the exception of the system and those connected to it. I've never advocated for either the mother or the father, simply said jail is not the answer before we know ALL the facts. If you have more facts than I do spell them out. Don't forget "innocent until proven guilty".

JLM, if YOU require all of the facts, perhaps you should communicate with the courts and demand the info that lead to their decision to deny bond to the kidnapper.

The courts didn't make that decision on a whim, there is a reason.

REASON all right...................how about the reason that contributed to the present disposition of the thugs who were instrumental in the demise of Robert Dzakanski? The outcome of the Air India trial?

That's an interesting perspective.

You position in this particular case absolutely ignores the perspective of the father who has been without any justice for 20 years now.. Any comment on that or is the direction to blame the victim or cast doubt on his ability/suitability as father and absolve the mother?

How is throwing the mother in jail (before she has been found guilty) going to improve the perspective of the father?

You want to compare murder to a woman taking her own child?

Which one's worse JLM, especially in light that the father spent 20 years wondering, worrying and frightened for the well being of his child?

But all of this is incidental to the fact that she was on the run for 20 years, and there is no question that considering her last 20 years of hiding that she poses a huge flight risk.

Hell, now that her daughter is old enough to take care of herself, the mom is an even bigger flight risk.

We've been through this. That is NOT why she is in jail before her trial. Her ability to ignore court orders and skip town is the reason she is behind bars prior to the trial.

And I don't think there is any sentence post-trial which will make up the 18 years with HIS child she STOLE from the father.

I see you are still judging the mother before she's told her side of the story!

You are still siding with the father over the mother when neither one of them has told his/her side of the story.

I am not sure I have sided with anybody. I have formed an opinion regarding available facts. But I did not try to imagine other facts which would make it possible to form a different opinion.

And I also am not outraged that a flight risk prisoner will be kept behind bars.

And I see that you are still promoting this ongoing perversion of the justice system, all because the courts haven't sent a special envoy directly to your house to pass along all of the info and get approval from you for the denial of bail.

Hey, here's a thought.. Considering that the prisons are filled with all kinds of innocent people (just ask any of 'em - they'll tell ya) and we can assume that the professionals (that you hold in considerable contempt) represented them, let's let them all out until such time that they freely admit to their crimes.

Hell, let them choose the 'punishment'.. Maybe going to bed without supper will teach them the folly of their ways.

She defied a court order, kidnapped a baby and disappeared for 20 years. That is her side to the story.

Simple- we do not KNOW enough details.

The details don't even matter right now, they matter for the actual trial! She is being held right now as she is deemed to be a flight risk. They obviously feel that she would try to flee again if given the chance. It's not like she gave herself up or anything, she was caught while still "on the lam".
