Holding up a stop Harper sign is nothing compared to what some around the globe have done or are willing to do. She did what you are supposed to do in democracy. Get you point heard and noted. If that is what it takes then that is what it takes.

Have you ever gotten you point across in Parliament and been seen and heard from coast to coast to coast? Why not?

Because I'm not a university student right now?

Not everyone has that chance. She abused a position of power. She gets her vote every election like everyone else. She can write letters or even start petitions. Like i said, if she should present a cohesive idea on paper, I might sign it. "stop Harper" is not a cohesive argument. Stop him for what? Because she doesn't like his hair? He has bad breath? What? If it's a specific policy issue, then why not present that. She is university educated after all, no? Certainly she could come up with better than a personal attack, no?

"stop Harper" is not a cohesive argument.

You tend to write long posts about your political theories. Let me know when you can write it all on a sign you can hide in a skirt, or kilt if you prefer.

A position of power? Giving someone the options of coffee, tea or water is a position of power? She was a ****ing parliamentary waitress.

Maybe she is like me and doesn't care for the rape and pillage of Canada by foreigners. Maybe she has seen the cow and the bag of magic beans and wants to keep the cow instead.

What do you want? The cow or the magic beans?

For a nation that sits on the richest pile of resources on the planet, we sure pay a lot of tax on our labour. Who owns these Canadian resources? Canadians or foreigners?

Those that have not been exploited yet are owned by the Crown, which is free to sell them at the price it wants. I do agree though that we need to raise the price on them, even if it means selling fewer resources. At least they'll still be sitting in the grown for when they might be more valuable in future.

But again, that's something best dealt with in a petition or letter-writing campaign, not the way she did it.

So why go through the trouble over nothing more than a personal attack against a person?

Which leader is the leading Globalist?

Hard to say. Also depends on how you define 'Globalist'? As for free trade, Harper. As for immigraiton and respect for international law, more Layton. So it really depends on the point being discussed.

Read up on the history of "Free Trade" and "Global Trade" some time and read up on what becomes of the people in the end after they've lost their sovereignty, then we'll chat more about free trade and why you think it is a good for Canada.

Need some starting points?

Crown resources stil belong to the Crown and it is free to sell them at the rate it sees fit. There is nothing stopping it from raising the price, and in fact I'd support such a raise even if sales drop. The resources will always be there for future sale after all.

And honestly, how has free trade hurt our overall economic efficiency?

"The Crown" sold off all mineral rights as leases ages ago.

Like I said read up on "Free Trade" and what it cost America, Canada, India, Africa, South America, Central America and China just for starters in the past.

I think that you'll find that there are only a handful of groups that own the mineral rights outright. These select few don't have to pay royalties to the prov/feds... The rest of us have a silent partner that assumes zero risk in every transaction.
I know. Just keeping things to the basics is hard enough around here. Ownership and lease ownership are two different ball games that would forever confuse Machjo.

I will say though that both the English-language and French-language media were both too harsh on her:

YouTube - ‪Brigette DePape: page protests against PM "Stop Harper"‬‏
YouTube - ‪Entrevue 24-60 de Brigette Depape‬‏

It sounds like they're lecturing her about how wrong she was. Sure she ws wrong, but it's not the role of the media to lecture her, but rather interview her. We all know she was wrong: we don't need media telling us.

By the way, let's suppose the situation were reversed. Let's suppose that the Conservatives had won a minority in the House and that an NDP-Liberal majority coalition were formed, and that during the Throne speech, a page pulled out a sign saying 'STOP Layton'.

I wonder how many here would be equally consistent in their criticism or spport of that page. I personally would be equally critical since it has nothing to do with the ideology or party in question, but her methods rather.

How many others here could say the same?

Kids are posting this on the facebooks. It's getting a lot of youth attention.

And just like anything else, it will more than likely be forgotten about in a month.

I wonder if she will ever get another job that paid close to what she was getting as a page?

In order for her to get future work she might need to flash more than sign.
