Compared to what 3%?? What would be left of BC if California style wildfires started? Nothing but ashes all the way to the swamps.
Those hot, humid three or four weeks in the height of summer (July) are hard to take. August is always nice. The humidity is gone, the bugs are gone and the winds are steady. August is the best month of the year, here. Spring and fall are glorious in Southern (and mid) Ontario and Quebec.

Can you grow sweet, juicy tomatoes outdoors in Calgary? Nope? Frost danger?

If it was months you would get used to it, same as -40C, the 4th week is 'normal weather'. (if you still have all your fingers and toes)

That must be why there 'greenhouses'. We need to fire up the coal fired power plants and there would be many more green houses growing all sorts of stuff?

Black thumbs are common. Must be genetic. I feel sorry for your bloodlines.

Why is there more sunlight hours per day in Calgary than Toronto in July?

How do plants feel about sunshine?

Why is the day 1hr and 5 minutes longer in Calgary on July 1st?

Better yet, why is 60°N the border for the Western Provinces and the Territories?

What's did they have in mind in 1867?

How many clear frost free days can Calgary depend on? 80? 90?

Poor George. It's okay that you "ain't right" or "slow" but if facts are lies you have far bigger issues than the obvious ones.

Get well soon.

This is like shooting fish in a barrel- BECAUSE Calgary is over 500 miles north of Toronto!

Green tomatoes, maybe - if you're lucky. :)
Maybe I have to concede, looks like you googled the same thing I did.

I can't speak for Calgary or Toronto, but we have no issue growing tomato's in Regina as long as it's my girlfriend growing them and not me. We don't have a garden but when she wants something I build it (like garden boxes) and then I'm done, and then growing it is her thing.

This is the last one I put together last summer.

We usually end up with more tomatoes than we need.

Now I'm looking forward to early August.

Toasted rye bread, mayo and fresh off the vine tomatoes.

Yum!
