No one has suggested he is an Angel - As I mentioned earlier you are confusing business practices with personal ethics & morals.
But Mulcair did overstep - He and Harper are quite alike I would say.

I don't like Black because he's a douche and whether he should be let in or not is a complex issue. The poll simply reflects similar opinion and is not evidence of an objective rationalization.

Actually, that's how he's made his living, pretty much from the very beginning, so I would expect him to continue.
However, I don't see any issue with letting the windbag in, as long as he keeps that horrible wife of his out of sight.

Mulcair is making a terrific fool of himself by comparing Black to a US cop-shooter, who was not born in Canada, who NEVER lived in Canada legally.....indeed, who was in violation of Canadian immigration law for almost 30 years.........
The double standard is there. I don't agree on the race card that Mulcair pulled (that was a gaffe), but the double standard based on probability is there. Black will start stealing again (imo).

Mulcair compared a Canadian-born member of the Order of Canada that was convicted of a non-violent crime in a US court to an American cop-shooter that has never been in Canada WITHOUT being in violation of Canadian law.
Mulcair is an idiot.
That is the most obvious conclusion that can be drawn from this fiasco.
He's referring to the immigration standard of satisfying one of the conditions - that is committing an offense again, regardless of what the actual crime was.
His inclination is that there is a high probability that Black would commit his crime again while Freeman has a low probability of committing the crime. That is where I agree regarding the double standard. I disagree with the racial profiling.
A gaffe? A "gaffe" is a slip, a mistake. This was not a gaffe, this was Muclair showing his true colours.
If you want to take it that way, sure. But I think Mulcair knows he bit off too much and probably won't play that card again. It's too obvious that he would lose support if he continued to make mistakes like that.
It isn't like we're talking about Ford, who's career will be in the toilet by next election.

Absolutely. It should be noticed that most of the charges against Black are disappearing. Unfortunately the time he has served in jail already, can't be unserved.
