I posted my one word question because I am mystified by all the hatred Canadians have for the United States.

Don't they realize that Canadian economy, therefore Canadian well-being is a straight function of American economy and well-being?

Don't they realize that Canadians are protected by the Armed Forces of the United States?

Don't they realize that most of the television shows they enjoy are made by Americans?

Don't they realize that most movies they enjoy were made by Americans?

Don't they realize that Canada's national sport, HOCKEY would have only minimal international exposure without Americans?

Don't they realize that most books they read were written/published by Americans?

Don't they realize that there are far worse enemies than America? Don't they even realize that America is NOT an enemy?

Did any of the Yankee-bashers live in the States? Did any of them ever know any Americans? Did any of them ever give a thought of being realistic and be grown up enough to realize that bashing and attempting to bring down others does NOT improve one's self-importance and/or one's inherent value?

Just asking.

Well Jack..off,

You should really get a little education and understanding of what the actual sentiments are before you start bashing Canadians. I myself, and most of the people I know who slander the states are not aiming directly at the people themselves but at the government and it's policies and practices on the international stage. There are a few war-mongering, redneck types I could do without but most of the 280 million americans just go about their lives without knowing or considering what their govt does abroad. They are not bad people they are just too busy with everyday stuff like paying the bills and getting the kids to soccer practice.

Now just to get to a couple of the things you raise directly.
Our economy is tied somewhat to the US economy but not a direct function of it. If the US disappeared tomorrow we would still have many trading partners and a somewhat stable economy. They need us more than we need them because we are the ones with the natural resources.
I do not see nor do not want any US troops in my country protecting it. If anything the US military and govt by its actions and our govt's complicity with them around the globe make our country less safe than it should be. Never has any terrorist organization or foreign nation made threats against Canada or Canadians. We are seen as a peaceful nation despite our neighbors to the south.
Hockey- the olympics and the IHHF have obviously done nothing to promote our national sport in your eyes which is evidence of you lack of intellgence.
America as an enemy- I don't view them as an enemy, more like an inbred, slightly retarded second cousin whom you have to put up with. I am always amazed in my travels at how many truly believe we all live in igloos and can't understand that the weather maps show our temperatures in C not F. I have great respect for their constitution as it was written and consider it one of the greatest documents in favor of the masses ever made. The system of governance of the republic as set up by the founding fathers was incredible at the time and if it had not been manipulated and deformed it still would be today.

I suggest to you, as to all those like you, that if you love the USA so much then pack up your sh*t and head south to become one of them.

Whatever you say.

Just keep your head in the sand and keep pretending.

Not really. 32 to 6 is the ratio?

Yes... we all believe you live in igloos. All Americans believe all Canadians live in igloos.

Are you really that daft? Who is the retard here?

Why? You're almost identical to us anyways. Slowly but surely.... Mwaahahahahaha.

Where do you come up with this deluded crap?

Do you recall the terrorist ring which wanted to blow up Parliament Hill? Yes, the Canadian terrorists.

Just over 311 million people in the U.S. right now, apparently.

U.S. & World Population Clock

But that's just me being nit picky.
Thanks for the correction.

Really? That's a reason to dislike the U.S.?
That is just my disappointment at the amount of ignorance amongst the general population.

I was obviously talking about foreign nations and terrorists.

Well, PoliticalNick, I feel properly chastened and chastised. As soon as I am good and ready I will endeavour to follow your advice which is always given and echoed by ignorant jerks about moving to the States.

Between you and me, the only one who bashed Canadians was you, bashing me. There is a good chance that I have been a Canadian much longer than you. However, I was never the kind of Canadian who felt it necessary or even compulsory to bash and hate America and Americans in order to raise my own self-esteem. That kind of false pride is reserved for the likes of you.

I stand by what I said in my post you are responding to, regarding economy and defense. Since we will never divorce ourselves from the American economy and we will never be left on our own to defend ourselves, we can only hypothesize whether you or I are right or wrong.

I guess you forgot that even in the good old days the NHL had twice as many American teams as Canadian teams. You also seen to have forgotten that Quebec City and Winnipeg had NHL teams, but were too cheap to support them. I was brought to tears with pride when Paul Henderson scored THE GOAL, but that was probably before you were born, so you probably don't even have a clue what I am talking about.

Think as long as you want that being a nice, peaceful nation - which we are - will make us immune to hate and attacks from Islamist terrorists. I just hope that you and yours will not be affected by any potential attack, which, after all if it could happen in Mumbay could also happen in Toronto or in the town where you live.

Think as long as you want that Americans are 'inbred and slightly retarded second cousins'. The longer you think that, the longer the world will know that while you consider them to be the kettle, you are definitely the pot.

As far as education is concerned, I got mine the hard way: I was a self-supporting adult student. Degrees? I got mine from the School of Hard Knocks. Yours may top mine and if it does, accept my heartfelt congratulations.

You do realize that Canada suffered terrorist attacks which killed quite a few Canadians, called the Air India attacks, I hope.
You also might consider the FLQ.

In other words, terrorists have threatened (and killed) Canadians.

Quiet you! Those don't count. Nor does the open Letter from the Taliban to Canada. That doesn't count either.

Let him live in his dream of the world dancing around a Red Maple Leaf and just admiring.

"The letter, purportedly written by Taliban spokesperson Qari Muhammad Yussef, says the Taliban is forced to kill Canadians because innocent Afghans are being killed."

Another case where proof isn't required?
You can hardly call it terrorism if they get killed on Afghanistan soil.
