Police chief Janee Harteau resigned and protesters called for mayor Betsy Hodge to quit as well.

Some people believe in what is called "Minnesota nice" but that's largely bullsh.it as blacks, Hispanics, Muzzies are stopped and harassed by cops all the time. Even whites interviewed on local tv/radio have said they are more afraid of the fuc.kin fuzz than they are of muggers and thieves.

Warning: Fake signs about 'easily startled' cops pop up in Minneapolis
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Monday, July 24, 2017 02:12 PM EDT | Updated: Monday, July 24, 2017 02:19 PM EDT
MINNEAPOLIS — The fatal shooting of an Australian woman by a Minneapolis police officer has sparked the posting of at least two fake street signs warning people of “easily startled” officers.
The Star Tribune reports one sign was spotted in Minneapolis and another in St. Paul over the weekend.
The official-looking orange metal signs read: “WARNING: TWIN CITIES POLICE EASILY STARTLED.” The signs have a picture of an officer with a gun in each raised hand, shooting in both directions.
Justine Damond was unarmed when she was killed behind her home on July 15, after she called 911 to report a possible rape.
The officer who shot Damond has declined to be interviewed. The other responding officer says Damond approached the officers’ police cruiser shortly after he heard a loud sound.
A fake street sign is mounted on the same pole as legitimate ones at the intersection of Cedar and Riverside Aves. Sunday, July 23, 2017, in Minneapolis. Mississippi police shoot, kill man while serving arrest warrant at wrong home

Mississippi police officers shot a mechanic to death Sunday after the cops served an arrest warrant at the wrong residence, according to multiple media reports.
Southaven police officers initially planned to arrest Samuel Pearman, who was wanted for assault -- but instead of knocking on Pearman's door, cops went to the house across the street from him, UPI reported.
At that house, cops shot and killed Ismael Lopez, 41, after Lopez's pet dog, a pit bull, allegedly tried to attack the officers. The officers also said Lopez had a gun in his hand at the time. Lopez's wife disputes both of the cops' claims.
“One of the officers did fire a shot at the pit bull dog,” DeSoto County Prosecutor John Champion said. “While this was going on, they also noticed at the time that a gun was pointed outside the residence. At this point, the officers began hollering ‘put the gun down, put the gun down,’ at which point that did not occur and there were more than one shot was fired toward the door, and there was a male subject inside the residence that was killed.”
Champion said there is a possibility the officers went to the wrong address but confirmed that Lopez was not the suspect the arrest warrant was intended for before the gunfire began.
“Somebody didn’t take the time to analyze the address,” Murray Wells, an attorney who was hired by Lopez’s family, told UPI. “This is incredibly tragic and embarrassing to this police department that they can’t read house numbers.”
Lopez’s wife, whose name was not released, said the police’s version of what occurred before the shooting is not correct. She told Jordan Castillo, a family friend, that Lopez never had his gun in his hands and police started shooting despite the family's door being closed.
"She said when he got up, she heard the footsteps all the way up to the door, she heard the doorknob turn, and then after the doorknob turned it was just gunshots from there," Castillo said.
Lopez, an auto mechanic, had been a resident of the neighborhood for 13 years, according to Wells.
“The only time the police had ever been there was when they had been robbed,” Wells said.
The officer who shot and killed Lopez has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation occurs.

I suppose that if the whole damned population is potentially armed, you shoot first and ask questions later as a means of staying alive.

Similar thing happened a couple of years ago in Montreal, cops went to the wrong apartment, resident was confused, couldn't understand why these people were trying to break in, and resident wound up dead.

No, as reality shows, the act of "being damned careful"comes into play, and as far as the cops go the act of "doing your job properly" takes effect.

So, when you talk about 'gun control', you don't mean 'gun control'. Excellent.

No we just don't mean YOUR singular definition which the rest of the world MUST follow because YOU said so.( THANK GAWD For DICTIONARIES EH?) You want to force everyone to your singular view of the world then why don't you get a gun and try to make us?
:)
Oh, maybe a gun isn't big enough...you may have to go nuclear...

On shootings BLM has validity
No, no they don't. 4% is not validity when over 90% of deaths are caused by members of your own community.
The reality is borne out by the stats. The colour of your skin has very little bearing on whether you got shot by the cops. It certainly does make a difference on how often you get to interact with the police but once that interaction is taking place, your skin colour really doesn't matter in how you get treated afterwards.

Bride-to-be called 911 for help and was fatally shot by a Minneapolis police officer

By Katie Mettler July 17

A yoga and meditation teacher living in Minneapolis was fatally shot by city police Saturday night after she called 911 to report a possible assault in the alley behind her home.
The woman was identified by family in local and Australian news reports as 40-year-old Justine Damond, a native Australian who studied to be a veterinarian in Sydney before moving to Minneapolis to be with her fiance. The couple planned to marry next month.
Damond’s call for help came in just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Two Minneapolis Police Department officers went to an alley near her home in the Fulton neighborhood, a popular area on the city’s southwest side.
“At one point an officer fired their weapon, fatally striking a woman,” the statement said.
But the BCA offered few other details on what precipitated the shooting and, it said, neither responding officer had turned on their body cameras before the shooting. The squad car camera did not capture the incident either. Investigators are looking into whether other video of the shooting exists, the statement said.
All Minneapolis police officers have worn body cameras since the end of 2016, according to the city, a policy decision that was announced in July 2016, same month a black motorist named Philando Castile was fatally shot by a police officer in the Twin Cities area.
“We all want to know more. I want to know more,” Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges said during a news conference Sunday afternoon. “I call on the BCA … to share as much information as they can as quickly as they possibly can.”
In a series of statements since Saturday, Hodges has called the shooting a “tragic incident” and said she has questions about why the officers’ body cameras were not turned on.
“Tonight, I’m sad, and disturbed,” Hodges, who represented the Fulton area as a city council member, wrote on Facebook Sunday night. “This is a tragedy—for the family, for a neighborhood I know well, and for our whole city. … There is a long road of healing ahead, and a lot of work remains to be done. I hope to help us along that path in any way I can.
“But right now, I’m sad, disturbed, and looking for more answers, like many of you.”
Authorities told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
Three people “with knowledge of the incident” told the Star Tribune that the responding officers pulled into the alley behind Damond’s home. The woman, wearing pajamas, approached the driver’s side door and was talking to the driver, reported the Star Tribune. The officer in the passenger seat shot Damond through the driver’s side door, the three people told the newspaper.
“Basically, my mom’s dead because a police officer shot her for reasons I don’t know,” Zach Damond, Justine Damond’s stepson, said in a video posted to the Women’s March Minnesota Facebook page. “I demand answers. If anybody can help, just call the police and demand answers. I’m so done with all this violence.”
The 22-year-old man said that Damond heard a sound in the alley so she called police “and the cops showed up.”
“Next thing I know, they take my best friend’s life,” he said.
Another woman in the video, Bethany Bradley with Women’s March Minnesota, said police were not being transparent or sharing information with the family. She also lives in the Fulton area.
Justine Damond’s birth name was “Ruszczyk” but she had already taken the last name of her fiance, Don Damond, 50. He was away on a business trip when the shooting occurred.
Both Damonds taught meditation and spirituality classes at the Lake Harriet Spiritual Community center.
Justine Damond attended high school in Australia and graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree in 2002, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
Her personal and business website says she was a qualified yoga instructor, meditation teacher and a personal health and life coach.
The website says Damond’s “interest in supporting people to heal and transform themselves developed after she saw family members suffer greatly from depression, alcoholism and cancer.”
It continued: “After losing much of her family to cancer she has spent many years on a personal investigative journey to discover how habits and disease develop, and how people can change and live in joy, expressing their full potential.”
The Minneapolis NAACP, three mayoral candidates and about 250 other friends, family and community members attended a vigil Sunday night held at the place where Damond was shot.
“Many of us who have been on the front lines have been warning the public, saying if they would do this to our fathers and our sons and our brothers and our sisters and our mothers, they will do it to you next,” said Nekima Levy-Pounds, one of the candidates and a civil rights attorney.
“I really hope that this is a wake-up call for this community to stop allowing things to be divided on the lines of race and on the lines of socio-economic status.”
Damond’s stepson called her a “very passionate” person. And other friends and neighbors at the vigil called her a “peaceful, lovely woman” who loved animals and helping others.
“This woman was a beautiful light,” Bradley said at the vigil. “She was a healer. She was loved. And she should be alive. She should still be here.”

Oh, dear. And in the same city where Officer Jeronimo Yanez just got a walk for killing Philando Castile.

You just know they're having round-the-clock meetings in the mayor's office, the DA's office, the police union, PD headquarters, and the governor's office. How do you spin this one? Convict the cop, and the black community will know beyond all possibility of denial that it's open season on them. Acquit the cop and the whites are gonna get real worried that they're on the target list too now.

My advice to the cop? Say "I was frightened. I didn't know what she was going to do."

Worked for Yanez.
Uh...yeah. Woman calls to report a sexual assault behind her home. Cop car rolls up, the woman approaches the cop car and the Somlai fast-tracked cadet shoots from inside his car through the passenger window. What could he have possible been scared of, that this gorgeous woman was going to sexually assault him or something?

ON the other hand, it worked for Lisa Mearkle after she shot David Kassick twice in the back as he lay face down in the snow as she was tasering him. His "crime"? Having inspection and emissions tags that were one month out of date. But yeah, cops only get away with murdering Black people.

Remember when Michael Brown was shot in Ferguson? Less than a week later Dillon Taylor was shot and killed by a Black cop in Salt Lake City. But there was no media circus for him. The cop was cleared of any wrongdoing by the State's DA. There was no Grand Jury for the Taylor case like there was for Brown. Obama and Holder sure had nothing to say about the Taylor murder despite the fact neither could resist putting in their two worthless cents when it came to Brown. And of course BLM were their usual silent selves when a Black cop killed a White person.

Anyone who really believes this is about race and not abuse of authority is a moron who is contributing to the problem.

He wasn't Somali, he was American. Why is it that the same right-wingers who piss and moan whenever minorities call themselves African Americans or Hispanic Americans or Native Americans are the first to deny the term "American" to somebody who's not white?

And he didn't shoot through the passenger window, he shot through the driver's window.

What could he have possible been scared of, that this gorgeous woman was going to sexually assault him or something?

Has anybody claimed that? Outside of your hard-done-by fantasies, that is.

Ah, yes, argument by anecdote. Which of course leads to the question, if there was no media coverage of Dillon Taylor's shooting, how do you know about it? Among other questions.

Anyone who really believes this is about race and not abuse of authority is a moron who is contributing to the problem.
Anybody who really believes that it must be one or the other and can't be both is a whimpering little poor-poor-pitiful-me racist.
