….on an issue.

“I’m for transparency,” Johnson told Benny Johnson. “It’s a very delicate subject but we should put everything out there and let the people decide it.”

Speaker Johnson added that Attorney General Pam Bondi “needs to come forward and explain” the confusion she’s brewed after she stated in interviews earlier this year that the purported Epstein “client list” was sitting on her desk for review, suggesting it would be released. Bondi and other Justice Department officials now say the “client list” — which some claim would reveal the names of powerful figures who allegedly participated in Epstein’s crimes — doesn’t exist.😳

Johnson’s interview was released Tuesday afternoon moments after Democrats nearly won a significant victory on the House floor that would have forced the Trump administration to release the Epstein files. If Republicans had not blocked the procedural motion, they would have been forced to vote on a measure to release the Epstein files sponsored by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California) and supported by House Democratic leadership.

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York) called for transparency on the issue on Monday, saying the "American people deserve to know the truth.”

“If you’re not hiding anything, prove that to the American people,” Jeffries said at his weekly news conference. “And if you are trying to hide something, as many of Donald Trump’s MAGA supporters apparently believe, then the Congress should work hard to uncover the truth for the American people.”

Trump is facing the most serious split of his political career from his famously loyal right-wing base over suspicions that his administration is covering up lurid details of Epstein's crimes to protect rich and powerful figures they say are implicated.

"The attorney general has handled that very well," the Republican leader said of Pam Bondi, who leads the Justice Department, when he was asked about the case at the White House.

Trump repeated his claim that the Epstein files were "made up" by his Democratic predecessors in the White House -- even though he said multiple times during the election campaign that he would "probably" release them.

"She's handled it very well, and it's going to be up to her," Trump said. "Whatever she thinks is credible, she should release."

Trump's latest comments mark a softening of his stance -- he had voiced frustration in the Oval Office and online about his supporters' fixation on Epstein and pleaded with them to move on.
"I don't understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody," Trump told reporters Tuesday night, adding: "It's pretty boring stuff."
The president's "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement has long held as an article of faith that "Deep State" elites are protecting Epstein's most powerful associates in the Democratic Party and Hollywood.

Trump has faced growing outrage since his administration effectively shut down Epstein-related conspiracy theories, which have become MAGA obsessions.

Must be someone important on that list or it would have been released by now. I have heard claims that Trump's name is on the list, which is why it is being hidden. I think he is the kind of person that would brag about being on that list. WHich, the way he thinks? his name NOT being on the list could be the reason not to release it. After all, there are other Presidents supposedly on the list, and he hates to be excluded.

He was a big-time player in New York when Epstein was active. He's also, then and now, a women-are-property kind of sexist asshole. Those sorts like to buy women for the thrill of ownership, not because they can't get them voluntarily.

OF COURSE he's on the list!

In an effort to contain the fallout, Trump and White House officials are weighing a range of options including unsealing new documents, appointing a special prosecutor and drafting executive actions on issues such as pedophilia, according to two White House sources with knowledge of the matter.

Trump and senior aides have also reached out to key MAGA-aligned influencers, urging them to dial down their criticism of the administration's handling of the Epstein investigation and shift focus to broader priorities for the America First movement, one source said.
