That was pretty much my reaction. Of course the intelligent thing to do would be to thank him for letting you know. I doubt if the cop said "Were are you coming from"

I wouldn't be surprised; the cop knew where he was going to, so he had to ask something. I went through a regular check outside St Stephen NB, where they were checking for seat belts and inspections, and the cop asked me where we were going. If I hadn't been heading to a hockey school with my daughter, I would have asked him why he wanted to know.

With simple matters it's best just to comply- the light burnt out no big deal!

Funny thing is, this is what allows us to be abused at the hands of those who think they are enforcing the law.

Anyways.....back to the Wall Street thing...these folks are protesting 'cuz they
aren't finding jobs? Or not finding jobs that can support them, or support them
in a manner that they wish to be supported in? Isn't that what the protests are
all about, without the other causes being tacked on?

One of two things appear to be being presented here...

1, Either you're full of sh!t.

Or...

2, The RCMP aren't as out of control as everyone says they are. Which would now include you.

I'm leaning to number 1 myself. It's been my experience, that when you give cops attitude, you usually get a ticket. Especially when they have you dead to rights.

The fact that you were in your driveway, is irrelevant.

Perhaps the cops in your area. Here, given the fact that everybody knows everybody (including me and the cop), things tend to be a little different. Your irrelevant opinion is noted though.

I don't. When being pulled over late at night, it's a standard question.

Given Cannuck's implied tone of the officer and his inference of a 'police state'. I highly doubt giving him attitude, would have resulted in the officer retreating.

But than again, logical consistency and deductive reasoning, aren't Cannuck's strong suits.

I've found that if you simply don't be a dick with cops, they tend to be reasonable people, doing a rather thankless job.

Cannuck is a man and you councel quizzlingship, what a perfect little citizen you are. I wonder how fast you'd bend over for the pigs? The stazi left because he realized he was on private property mouthing off to the man whose castle he was dirtying. And the gutless doughnut tester was all alone. In a few months that cop will have a machine gun and a drunk full of hoods and cable ties.

I generally think they're hearts are in the right place but they lack sufficient problem solving skills to achieve much because they can't focus their efforts on where they need to be.

I wonder how many of them have gotten job offers or become gamefully
employed while camping in public parks across North America?

Like not being intimidated.

Yes, like not being intimidated. If you are ever in Foremost Alberta, ask the locals about the local wildlife officer.

I wouldn't be surprised if many are gainfully employed. I suspect many are working for special interest groups. There's decent money in professional protesting.

Jobs are nice but inflation rules. If the occupy movement fails everyone will work twenty four seven or they'll starve to death in the streets. And that would be the nice scenario in the event of success for the totalitarian factions. The present economic problems cannot be fixed except by radical change and that must includes complete ruthless extermination of private international banking. That solution has been four hundred years in the making, this time.

And THAT would be the proper time to start acting like an A$$hole!

No, the proper time to start acting like an asshole is when the cops stop acting like the public servants they are supposed to be.

Another story involves a cop giving a buddy of mine a hard time because of the tinted windows on a car that was parked in front of his house. The cop was too stupid to make sure the car belonged to my buddy before he started to threaten him with a ticket (it didn't belong to him). So my buddy starts ****ing with the cop. "I don't have proper registration or insurance on it so you may as well give me a ticket for that" and "there might be drugs in the trunk".

The problem here is that the crime rate is virtually non-existent here so Depot sends rookies here to get their feet wet. Unfortunately, they tend to go overboard. Most RCMP recruits nowadays have too much ego and not enough ability and we get to see it more than other communities.
