Sounds like something a homeless person wouldn't have. Those that
aren't homeless can use their homes from 11pm to 7am.
By-laws don't supercede you right of assembly on public land. If they get a permit they give up that right and fall under the rules of the by-law.

I love my Mr.Heater, keeps the ice hut toasty warm. And helps SCB shed several layers of clothing in the process.
LOL. Yeah I can say that there have been days in the shack where we didn't even auger the ice.

So if these protesters don't have a permit to camp in the park, the bylaw
stating that they can't camp in the park without a permit doesn't apply to
them?

(My bad above too, as the bylaw states 11pm to 6am, not 7am).

You've got it Pontiac. They aren't on vaction, they are assembling. They don't round up the homeless living in Wascana.

But they do scoot them out between 11pm & 6am, do they not? Wascana has it's
own enforcement personal (park authority, whatever...) to do this.

How many tent camps have you seen there recently for a month at a time?

Nope!

Remember this?
People close to the man who drowned in Regina's Wascana Lake say he was
living in the park as a homeless person.

"We had a little umbrella there and a bed and some blankets," Elaine
Yahyahkeekoot, the girlfriend of Darlyn Johns, told CBC News Thursday.

Yahyahkeekoot explained that they had been living in Wascana Park, in the
heart of Regina, for three weeks before Johns, 47, died Saturday.

I was reading the exact same story just now.
Drowning victim was homeless in Wascana Park - Saskatchewan - CBC News

While Yahyahkeekoot said they had been in the park for three weeks, and
spoke of others also living in the park, an official with the Wascana Centre
Authority said it only receives about one call per year about homeless people.

Bernadette McIntyre said when the authority hears of a case, it is passed over
to Regina police. "The only time we got into trouble was because we were
making a little fire to get rid of the mosquitoes and somebody phoned the cops,"

Yahyahkeekoot told CBC News. "The cops came by and fire trucks came by and
they put out the fire on us."

She said the campers, there were four in their group including herself and Johns,
were told they could not have open fires in the park. "But nobody kicked us out,"
she said. "Everybody knew we were sleeping there."

In some cases, the Occupy protesters do cooperate with police. Although, of course, there are the obvious examples of tension.

That's one of the few things that I lean towards the Occupiers on. I am very disturbed by the actions of our local police (RCMP) and am personally becoming less cooperative. I got pulled over a few months ago because I had a burnt out license plate bulb. "Pulled over" isn't the right term because I was actually in my driveway and out of my car by the time he drove up (he felt the need to park in my driveway and turn is lights on). The first words out of his mouth were "Were are you coming from". I told him "This isn't a police state and it's none of your ****ing business where I came from".

How much was the ticket?

There was no ticket. Once he realized I was not intimidated by him, he told me to get it fixed, got in his car and left.

It's an excuse to pull people over to look for more important things like drunk drivers. I don't wish to live in a police state so I do not cooperate (not even at check stops)

One of two things appear to be being presented here...

1, Either you're full of sh!t.

Or...

2, The RCMP aren't as out of control as everyone says they are. Which would now include you.

I'm leaning to number 1 myself. It's been my experience, that when you give cops attitude, you usually get a ticket. Especially when they have you dead to rights.

The fact that you were in your driveway, is irrelevant.

That was pretty much my reaction. Of course the intelligent thing to do would be to thank him for letting you know. I doubt if the cop said "Were are you coming from"

I don't. When being pulled over late at night, it's a standard question.

Given Cannuck's implied tone of the officer and his inference of a 'police state'. I highly doubt giving him attitude, would have resulted in the officer retreating.

But than again, logical consistency and deductive reasoning, aren't Cannuck's strong suits.

I've gotten "fix it" warnings where I've had to replace a bulb and then show up at the PD for inspection.
I've found that if you simply don't be a dick with cops, they tend to be reasonable people, doing a rather thankless job.

Yup, totally. He doesn't really care where you're coming from, he's just checking your response to see if you full of it or not. Stumble and stutter and he knows you're hiding something. Border guards are especially adept at that type of questioning.

With simple matters it's best just to comply- the light burnt out no big deal!

Listening to the radio over coffee this morning, it sounds like the non-applicable tickets
pertaining to the bylaw will be issued starting Monday, unless that gets postponed too.
