You mean the way the world wanted to unite behind Bush on Sept. 12, 2001?

He was their president, and that was the beginning of
the realization that he is a baffoon, and an idiot.

The people wouldn't unite behind him now, if the world was coming to an end,
what a hard way to learn about your president.

German govt. says Obama speech sent 'positive signal'

Barack Obama's speech to a huge Berlin crowd sent a "positive signal" to Europe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman said Friday, praising the presidential candidate's focus on working with America's partners.

"From the point of view of the chancellor and the government, the speech is a positive signal for Europe and to Europe," spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm told reporters. Obama "underlined the fact that the challenges of the 21st century can only be tackled together, only in international cooperation — that corresponds with the German government's position."

Wilhelm said the priorities Obama named matched those of Germany.

"A common resolution of international conflicts, a common fight against climate change, a clear initiative on the question of disarmament, dealing with the challenges of international terrorism — all these questions can no longer be resolved by one country alone, but only in close international cooperation that also involves international organization," Wilhelm said.

How the pre-visit negative remarks and the snubbing has transformed into a positive reaction is nothing short of a miracle!:-D
I wonder what kind of man do the doubters and Obama slammers envision as America's next president? He is the best available in my opinion.

U.S. needs strong partners to tackle problems: Obama

U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama has defended his overseas trip by saying it is important to work with allies.

He met with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street, where they held two hours of talks.
TV images showed the pair sitting on the Downing Street terrace and walking around the Horse Guards Parade area, where tourists snapped pictures.
Earlier, Obama had met for about an hour with former British prime minister Tony Blair, who is now a Middle East envoy.

The London visit was much lower-key than Obama's speech in Berlin on Thursday, where he drew a huge crowd.

He was well received in Britain.... just short of shaking hands with the Queen!!

Every head of state greeted and talked with him personally, except Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel. As a bedfellow of Mr. Bush it is not surprising.

Did he meet with Quandary?

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans who say religion is an important part of their daily lives support John McCain over Barack Obama for president, 50% to 40%, while their less religious counterparts support Obama over McCain, 55% to 36%.

Come on Colpy, what are they to do, not report that 200,000 people showed up to hear him speak? I've seen equal opportunity, but McCain is doing the usual Republican stuff and they really need a new gig.

He made a speech not very far from here so I decided to check out the volksfest at the Siegessäule. Whatever Obama might be, knowledgable on current affairs is not one of them. What was this rubbish about tearing down walls between Europe and the US? Last I checked, we've all been part of Nato for years. This man is just too inexperienced and is using the lasting stamina and legacy of past leaders; nothing more than an actor, one recognises this when they notice his accent changes with each and every public speech.. In Berlin, for example, he was playing a new version of Kennedy.

I like both McCain and Obama, its a shame they are going head to head. But on the plus side, I can see that being a win win.

Chris, the Republicans have been dividing Americans from Europeans since 9-11. That's the wall he's talking about. Americans have a hate-on for Europeans, ever since they didn't buy Bush's lies.

Hey, I didn't mean to whine.....but you must admit, Obama gets by far the lion's share of media attention.

That will probably change as the day gets closer.

He gets the lions share of the attention because he is interesting and charasmatic.

And that is a quality of being a leader, being able to inspire and lead. Because lets face it, 90% of the presidents job is just picking which expert you want to listen to (or it should be, no one person can run every facet of society).

Don't get me wrong, I like McCain, but his personality type isn't as magnetic as Obama. He'll play the hand he was dealt and Obama will play his.

The Republicans have only themselves to blame for the situation they're in. I still do not get why they picked McCain? As he tilts to the left on many issues (maverick), many of the hard core conservative Republicans will not vote in this election. This was clearly foreseeable, yet they still voted for McCain. Both Romney or Huckabee would have made better candidates. On a positive note, there's always 2012.

....and four years of war and mayhem, perhaps some peace keeping too, some areas are looking up....

Well, the media have certainly chosen their favourite for election...

Does anyone remember John McCain?

I remember him back when he still had Republican adversaries. Since then he's been off the radar screen save for occasional blips, and doesn't have the money to get the exposure that Obama can. That's an uphill battle.

Americans and their opinions mean nothing at this stage, wait until mid-September and then you can believe.........

Obama's last opponent just waited as well. Not the best strategy to employ...
