Geezus!

They can't even run a leadership vote!

How can anyone expect them to run a whole country!

Are you watching it?
Mulcair won the 1st round, do you think he would be a good opposition leader?

I suppose there is the odd good politician like Tommy Douglas, Stanley Knowles and John Diefenbaker, but mostly they are all tarred with the same brush, one will do as well as the next..............if they don't have an unblemished record for 10 years you sure as hell don't trust them.

From what I understand their trying a new voting system so it's causing delays??

There is a good chance this will go to a fourth ballot so it's going to be close.

So that would be Liberal or NDP?

MF - Still waiting ya know.

http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com...-some-political-manoeuvring-by-nathan-cullen/

If I am Nathan Cullen, contemplating a third ballot I seem destined to lose, I might seek to maximize my advantage by holding a frank exchange of views with Thomas Mulcair. It would, roughly speaking, go something like this: “Tom, you have the disposition of a badger with a hangover. No-one likes you but they do fear you – and believe you will rival Stephen Harper when it comes to pure political malevolance. On the other hand, everyone likes me, including the English media. Make me your deputy and this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

The second ballot saw Peggy Nash fall out of the race, while Thomas Mulcair saw impressive growth to secure 38% of the vote – helped by the transfer en masse of Martin Singh’s supporters from round one. Brian Topp increased his share of the vote to 25%, as did Mr. Cullen to 19%. Crucially though, the gap between the second and third place candidates did not shrink and it does not look likely to on the third ballot. Hence the suggestion that the B.C. MP, who has run such an energetic campaign, makes the best of a bad job. Perhaps if the activity on the floor counted for more votes, he would have the potential to charge up the middle but, with 85% of the votes already in, his candidacy looks dead.

Quite who will win between Mr. Mulcair and Mr. Topp is still unknowable. Ms. Nash said she intends to remain neutral, even if the conventional wisdom suggests most of her supporters will switch to Mr. Topp. The problem is, as so often, the conventional wisdom is an ass. I spoke a number of Nash supporting union members who had either already moved or were planning to move to the Mulcair camp. “Ideology is only part of it. Winnability is a bigger part,” said one.

Mr. Mulcair can see the top of the mountain from where he stands now – and Mr. Cullen could take him to the peak.

I have the impression that it would be a cold day in hell for you to vote Conservative.

Conservatism has been re-written so many times throughout history, I can't say that for certain - but at the present, I'm not impressed with that side of the political spectrum in the least.

On a lighter note (!!) this convention is a bit embarrassing to watch.

I keep seeing sleepy Cullen hipsters and the whole highschool rally mentality of these things makes me vomit a bit in the mouth.

Here's some bait:

I agree in the sense many Con Polices are idiotic. Then I also look across at the NDP and the Libs. They all have the ability to turn a dog away from a gut wagon.

Hey, you stole my joke. :)

Hearing rumors ya know that Pierre was a Liberal Plant.

Myself I have been planting Liberals in my backyard each summer. Never seem to sprout. Not sure if I am planting them to deep or to close together.
Any advice?

Well if you think of some of the stereotypes that go around about the characatures (spl.) of each party, you can take some easy shots at all three.

Cons - bullies, schemer, corporate shills
Libs - belligerently libertarian (yes, I think people do think this even though it is different from "liberal"), also lib enough to scheme
NDP - amateurs, deluded hippies, economically insane

Each party needs to get over these shallow interpretations because, unfortunately for them, the vast majority of voters don't actually pay enough attention to politics, so they look at these characterizations at face value.
