Do they actually make seatbelts for motorcycles? How about bicycles? It strikes me that in a crash being free of your bike is usually a good thing.
Precisely why the law was never passed. The carnage would be astronomical.

No one makes belts for bikes because only a politician would so brain dead as think it would help.

As long as skiers and cyclists can deposit a couple hundred grand with a hospital trust to be used if they scramble their brains, lettem ski!

Check the stats. It makes sense.

Little kids wear helmets learning to skate now.

Hockey players of all ages wear em

Oh yah, the OP. Not while swimming, but definitely when I'm in a boat or canoe (life preservers). I'm an old fart now and can't swim like I usta. Common sense.

Swimming..................bit of a stretch. Guess Darwin's law is going to have to apply in a lot of cases.

Goalies wear masks.

Nanny State or no, just makes good sense.

PS; In Ont. it's the law - gotta have one life preserver for every person in the boat. So far no one has to WEAR them. Maybe kids. dunno. I know any kids in a boat I'm in will have one on. Me too.

Cycling I agree. Stats do add up for significant cases of head injury.

Skiing, not so much. Most skiing deaths involve trees and usually broken necks. Helmets wouldn't help.

Also, make sure you collect the $200k from smokers and people who eat fast food, jaywalk, speed, don't wear seatbelts, and countless other high risk activities as well. Once you do that return with the plate to the skiiers.

An unenforceable law. It reminds me of one passed by the City of Toronto a few decades back in which it was made illegal for an unmarried couple to sleep together. However, there was a loophole in that if the couple was awake in bed it would be perfectly legal. A stupid law passed by stupid people.

Can't you people see, you elected them and now they know what is best for you.
We the electorate should be more aware of the people we are electing into office.
No you can't be sure someone is nuts before an election, but you can ask some
questions and find out what these people stand for in general terms.
We are responsible for the people we elect, therefore we get the representatives
we deserve.
