More than 100 container ships are waiting to enter the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Has anyone seen No-Show Pete?

BC longshore union asks federal government to stay out of its business when it comes to vaccines

ILWU Canada has requested the federal government not make vaccines mandatory for its workers.

The union has been representing workers in British Columbia since 1948 and is currently the exclusive bargaining agent for over 7,200 men and women throughout the province. Doing so on a federal, provincial, and municipal level.

“The Canada Labour Code requires that workers have a say in safety at their workplaces and the Government of Canada should not take this right away from us,” writes Ashton, who in the following paragraph invites Transport Canada or any other government department to discuss his concerns further.

The contentious topic of mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations left a gaping wound throughout many social and professional environments, and the workplaces represented by ILWU are no exception.

Some wish to have their individual choices — decided upon for a wide variety of reasons relative to the individual — respected. Others demand their own medical decisions be applied to their colleagues in the form of an ultimatum, and are willing to bequeath autonomy to the state if it means said ultimatum is achieved.

NORTH BERGEN, NJ (August 23, 2021) – The President of the International Longshoremen’s Association today blasted Federal, State and Local municipalities and employers who are forcing Covid-19 vaccinations on those who choose not to receive it.

Harold J. Daggett, International President of the ILA, who, himself was vaccinated earlier in 2021, said lawmakers at every level have overstepped their authority by forcing vaccinations on individuals who don’t want it.

“I don’t understand why our government is trying to force vaccinations down the public’s throat,” said President Daggett. “Everybody should have a right to choose on their own. Our U.S. Government and local authorities are chipping away at our freedom. Once the government tells you what you have to do, that’s Socialism, bordering on Communism. I served in the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and generations of American soldiers gave their lives to keep our nation free.”

The Food and Drug Administration on Monday granted full approval to Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine which set off a torrent of declarations by hospitals, colleges, corporations, and government agencies, demanding vaccines for their students or workers.

The ILA President blasted New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio who announced earlier this week that all education department employees would have to be vaccinated by Sept. 27, without the option of submitting to coronavirus testing instead.

“Mayor de Blasio’s actions are typical of so many misguided politicians who spent a career promoting “Free Choice” but now are acting like dictators when it comes to the Coronavirus vaccine,” the ILA leader said.

President Daggett believes the public can self-police themselves, taking necessary precautions to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“I am very disappointed in the actions of President Biden, his Administration and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for their mixed messages on Covid and for an alarming heavy-handed approach to demand vaccinations,” said President Daggett.

“I chose to receive the vaccination, but neither I, nor any government official or agency, have any right to tell another American to do something they are not comfortable in doing. Protecting our health is important, but protecting our freedom and liberty is equally important,” concluded ILA President Harold Daggett.
Good for him , more with a voice should be speaking out .

He is the head of transportation in the middle of a supply chain crises with no appointed under secretary, it's not like his body is recovering from giving birth, what if he won the nomination and became POTUS would this still been acceptable?

Again, he's supposed to look after the rest of the world that's having this issue? It's not just the US.

You also saying single dad's don't deserve paternity leave? After all, they didn't give birth either.

If he won the nomination to be POTUS, who knows. But he didn't. Right now he's Sec. of Transpo. And the issue is a lot more complex than just needing to ditch tariffs at the border.

Do you think he should at least take care of the US's supply chain crisis?

He isn't a single dad is he?

What tariffs should be ditched? Just need to drop the mandate and get truck drivers and dock workers back to work and the backlog would disappear fairly quickly.

This was a self inflicted crisis just like the Southern border

Considering this issue is everywhere and places are already increasing their hours to 24/7, no, there's not much else he can do. Unless you have ideas?
He does. Hate Pete Buttigieg. Cuz if he wasn't gay, there wouldn't be a problem!

Don't you remember the Trump administration, when everything was fine and beautiful? Except sometimes Fonzie had to wait for his malt at Arnold's?

I agree, it's self inflicted.

I was listening to a Sirius station and a reporter was at the docks in L.A. - I was listening at 7 a.m. so this would have put the report at 4 a.m. our time and he said there was absolutely nothing happening at the port. So much for 24/7!! I kinda knew that Biden was lying again but figured that time would tell if he was or not. Guess I was right!!

Interviews with truck drivers were also telling. They said that when the port operates, the cranes worked so slowly that it was taking 3 - 4 hours for them to load one container. So ya, it's self inflicted & the unions are in control. I wonder if the mandates were removed if there would be a difference in activities??

So Pete has control over other nations too, huh?
Go read the new rules California put in place for trucks to gain entry to the ports. That is almost 100% of the problem. Lone term ships will just go to other ports but for now they are stuck with the original destination.
So while all these ships are sitting at anchor buring fuel cargo is sitting in asian ports waiting for a ship to take products to North America.

Lots of them. Start with firing the leftard politicians that are hell bent on destroying the economy. Take gas and diesel off the commodities market. Put the hrs of operation for truckers back to where they were.

Like every other secretary of Transpo had a handle on their girlfriend's pussy.

So what?

Also, lifting tariffs would only be a temp solution and again, the supply chain issues aren't just a US problem, it's world wide. Big issue besides the ports are truckers. Not enough of them. You should be all for getting more truckers out there...

Look at what the article says the issues are for. Hats, bicycles, TV's, sneakers... why not push to have those things made in the US? Give companies a deal - make these things in the US and the Gov't can subsidize factory development or something.

Hell, Canada should be doing the same.
The reason I gave and FB gave me a time out fore is because US youth are too stupid and lazy to do manufacturing jobs. Also there are too many restrictive rules in place now to make most manufacturing viable.

As it pertains to the US, yes.

He isn't a single dad is he?

No, he's got a husband. So?

What about families where the mom goes back to work right away and dad stays home, because she makes more than he does?

In the end it doesn't matter, paternity leave is permitted and he took it.

Is it because he doesn't have tits and a vag, is that why him taking leave to be a parent is such a bad thing?

What tariffs should be ditched?

I dunno, someone else brought up tariffs. I haven't looked into them to really know where it's all at. China is the biggest one from what little I've seen though so *shrug*

Just need to drop the mandate and get truck drivers and dock workers back to work and the backlog would disappear fairly quickly.

Aww... people still scared of a needle and can't tolerate being asked to give a shit about other people.

No, they have their choice; they choose not to get the shot, that's on them.

That being said, I think if they don't want to take the jab, people should be told they need to test daily AND wear PPE at all hours they are at work, kind'a like how docs and nurses had to, and have to.

This was a self inflicted crisis just like the Southern border

I suppose; the world over is still full of idiots who aren't helping this shit.

I am pretty sure a cabinet minister in the American federal government is the primary breadwinner in that relationship .
