Good bye Prax. You are getting belligerent again.
It's not belligerence, it's the truth.... who wants to be out on the roads with snow plows where the drivers can't see around them and don't care about standard safety?

A Dartmouth mom says she’s had too many close calls at a marked and lit crosswalk.
“I’ve been in the crosswalk and the car actually hit the back of my leg as I’m standing at the crosswalk as the kids are going through,” said Heidi Chace.
“Enough is enough.”
She wants a crossing guard installed at the crosswalk across from the McDonald’s on Nantucket Avenue. She walks her kids to the Bicentennial school everyday because of the dangerous crossing.
“My kids are 10 and 11 [years old]. Why should I have to walk them back and forth to school? C’mon they don’t want me holding their hands and walking them to school.”
She said several other children will only cross with a parent like Chace because they’re too afraid to cross the multi-lane street.
“The cars shoot through there and they don’t even care. I’ve been standing in the crosswalk and they go through the crosswalk as I’m standing there with the kids.”
Parents were told the HRM won’t employ crossing guards there because there isn’t enough traffic. Albro Lake-Harbourview Coun. Jim Smith and HRM staff did not return messages yesterday.
“I wish for just one day someone would just sit up there with a camera in the McDonald’s parking lot and watch the [cars] go through as the kids are in the crosswalk.”
Chace said she’s talked to at least 10 other concerned parents about this issue.
...and how loudly are people going to complain over the tax increase necessary to purchase all this magical equipment that can evade the laws of physics while operating in a winter environment ... or perhaps we should just outlaw winter altogether if they're not willing to drive or walk in streetsful of snow.
People should just have brains enough to stay away from big machinery. How long has it taken people to realize train tracks mean trains run by?
Then let them whine. That you don't like being nagged at is not a reason to break the damn law. If you get pulled over speeding on the highway its not a valid excuse to say "Everyone else was speeding and I didn't like being honked at for going too slow by obeying the limit"
The plow drivers have a responsibility to refuse to commit unsafe practices.
A neighbour can whine and complain all they want about how ugly the fence around your pool is, if you take it down and some kid falls in and drowns, its your fault, not the kids.
Plow operators do all that can be done to operate in safety. It is impossible to stop wind from picking up snow particles and depositing then on windshields, cowls, mirrors or anywhere else wind can move ice crystals. Your problem isn't with the plow driver, it's with the manufacturer of snow.

If it's just particles of snow, then they should still be able to see through their mirrors and windows.... which defeats your argument of them having troubles always seeing because snow covers those things.
If it's a crap load of snow building up that can block proper viewing, then once again, they should get their asses out and clear it off.
If it's that much of an issue, then get the mirrors and such heaters installed so they can melt the horrible, uncontrolable snow that hinders their jobs.
Once again, cancels out your argument.
Okay, Whatever you say:roll:
It is very possible.
That happens on cars too, and people are expected to keep them clean. Now on plows I do not doubt this is worse.
That just means the plows need to be upgraded with better equipment. Heated mirrors, heated windshield if required, etc.
This is no different than if a snow plows brakes don't work or if it has a gas leak or a wheel is verging on falling off.
If its not safe to drive, it gets fixed and upgraded as needed, or you refuse unsafe work.

All these fantastic ideas... Might I add a suggestion...
The issue always comes back to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ money and the tax payer who does not want his taxes increased..
As a kid who grew up in Montreal I remember every so often another child would get sucked into snowblowers.. Always it was the operators fault because he was operating the machine. How the hell could he be at fault when the kid was in a fort on the side of the road hidden from the snowblower ?
In any case.. It's always money that will matter and hence the best machine in the world could be put on the road but must be maintained and kept up to snuff which cost more tax dollars..

The operator is always responsible for the machine they are operating. They must always be in complete control of it while it is active/in motion.... if they can not do this, they should not be operating it, or the machine should be recalled and discontinued..... seems pretty straigt forward to me.
It isn't Money that will always matter, and like I said, if people want to keep with that type of mentality where other people's lives and safety are trumped by profit or costs, then I don't want them on the streets I am walking, nor do I want them having any functioning business in my neighborhood, where their profits and costs are more important then my and everybody else's safety/security.
How much does it cost to have them little toaster wires in your mirrors to help melt snow and defog?
How much does it cost for decent wiper blades from Canadian Tire?
maybe $50 at the most per truck.... are you f'n kidding me?
Jeez.... look out.... the whole business is going down the crapper.... tax payers are getting outraged alright!
