That, my friend, is because our calendar sucks. Sunday is the first day of the week and normally a day off. Sunday is followed by 5 work days, then Saturday for many is a second day off. So, day off, work, work, work, work, work, day off.

Now in many European countries, Monday is the first day of the week. So, it's work, work, work, work, work, day off, day off. You see, there they get two days off back to back each week. Must make Mondays much more tolerable!

i remember reading somewhere that Wednesday is the preferred day for laying off people.

Sir, there is no real good day for layoffs.. I remember my last one came on a Monday as well after 7 years of being with the company. I fear with the economy the way it is I may face it again very soon. It is scary to drive to work every day.. However one keeps doing the best they can and works as hard as one can while one has work..

I don't think so. You know that I used to work for a law firm and I worked in the bookkeeping dept. When someone was going to be laid off or fired, I would be called in during the Friday morning break so their final papers and cheque would be ready for the Friday afternoon break and while the rest of us were having coffee, the person would be gone when we came out. When they were hiring, they liked the ad to go into the Wed. and Fri. papers. Friday was the biggie as they felt more people read the paper that day.

Spade,
Is You Tube located at Aether Island? I noticed you seem to spend a lot of time there.

Boy oh boy. You live here in Canada and you don't know nothin'. Office type people get Saturday off cause it's the last day of the week and then they get Sunday off cause it's the first day of the week so they can be all rested up for those other 5 days. Oh - did I mention that I just bought a new bottle of hair dye today. Goin' to turn my hair brown as I'm gettin' tired of being blonde!

Don't hold it in.

Tell your boss to get stuffed.

See you at the EI lineup.

Mondays don't really suck all that bad.

Any more.

Youse guys is all nuts!!

When I lived in the bush I discovered a simple truth. In all I only spent about 20 - 25% of my time taking care of all my basic needs of food, shelter, clothing and heating/cooking. That included gathering wild foods, firewood, logs for building, hunting and fishing. The rest of the time I spent reading and visiting with friends, dancing and wandering around in the bush exploring.

Probably better than 50% of your working dollar is given to government so you can earn enough money to buy stuff you don't need, live in houses that are too big and inefficient, to buy and drive vehicles that are more fluff than substance and eat food that has very little to no nutritional value. You are, for all intents and purposes, slaves to a system that is mindlessly consuming our life support system and for what?

If you want to enjoy getting out of bed every morning, you need to figure out a way to support yourself without giving up your freedom, working at mindless, uninteresting jobs that slowly drain the life force out of you body and mind. If you are not doing what makes you happy (thus inspiring you to bolt out of bed in the morning with enthusiasm) you are not doing yourself or anybody else a favour.
