Mike Duffy offends me every time he opens his mouth. Here is a guy who has been kissing political backsides for thirty odd years and his reward was a seat in the senate, the most luxurious home for aged and senile but kissers in the world.

I am quite amazed that the Globe and Mail would post such a fair and balanced article such as this one. Are they finally stepping up to the plate and giving Canadians an unbiased and truthful slant on their reporting? Kudos you guys.

I agree. Mind you Williams is pretty easy to offend....

Sitting at my laptop
I always have a soft spot in my heart for the lovely Miss May. God bless her for calling out Duffy on his journalistic bias.

Senator Duffy is having his feet held to the fire over this one. People in eastern Canada are livid over his comments. Now Senator Duffy wants it all to go away. Not so fast there Duff. You made a comment now it's time for a rebuttal. And the people are speaking loud and clear.

Duffy tells media to ‘give it a rest

Duffy somehow seems to have forgotten that he's no longer on the Conservative apologist radio commentary gig, but in a state of suspended political animation

Duffy spent a lifetime building up his figure so he would not look out of place at the trough.

That doesn't say much for newfoundlanders....
What it says about Newfoundlanders Risus is they have faith in Williams and support his campaign against Ottawa.

Ralph Goodale is talking on Question Period right now defending Iggy's decision to allow the 6 MP's to vote against this budget. He gets right to the point that this budget unfairly singles out Newfoundland and Labrador by a vindictive prime minister who puts personal matters ahead of governing the country.

And look who's hosting the program. Jane Taber, another biased TV personality who craps all over the east coast at every opportunity.

Do you really think we're being greedy??

Yes.

How would you feel if it was your province? It's called wanting what we deserve.

I don't have a province. I'm a military brat and have lived all over this country. Besides, I doubt I would feel an attachment to any province even if I lived in the same place my whole life. I could easily pick up and move anywhere in this country or to many places around the world. I really believe that home is where you make it. That being said, I think your last sentence explains the difference between us. I don't ever recall even considering what I "deserve". I'm far more focused on what I can give or what I can do, both from a personal perspective and from a political perspective. As a current Albertan, I have had no problem with sending as much money as we could to Newfoundland. Newfoundland does not need it now. There are other parts of the country that do. Your attitude (and the attitude of others) is that the real needs of these other areas is secondary to what you think you deserve...one could argue whether that is "greedy" but I submit that it is, in the very least, selfish.

"I find it very disappointing," Williams says. "When something punitive, excessive and over-the-top happens to a province, I would expect the other provinces and territories to at least express support."

Perhaps they don't see it as punitive, excessive and over-the top. When everybody on the freeway is the wrong lane driving straight at you, you might have to consider that it ain't them thats got it wrong.

I can see that is why you feel like you do...fair enough. You don't have any loyalty except to the "now" of Canada. Where ever you live. And as far as giving from a personal perspective, I've done my share as well and still doing it, no matter what province I'm in. I do volunteer work and did volunteer work all over. You can't judge a book by it's cover.

Duffy spent a lifetime building up his figure so he would not look out of place at the trough.

"He said he has received mail from "phoney-baloney Danny’s minions" who said they were upset about his comments about the two premiers. He said the people who sent him messages were also personally abusive "about my looks and weight.""

Personal attacks about somebody's weight instead of debating what they stand for may be an indication that they really can't find anything to criticize.

Hey, the other provinces are not going to say anything because the equalization payments favor the other provinces. This budget is a farce, a blatant cash grab by the federal government against the province of Newfoundland and Labrador while the other provinces (except P.E.I.) condone it by their silence. Today I listened to Michael Ignatieff and Ralph Goodale both condemn this budget as punitive and vindictive. This will push Newfoundland and Labrador back into a have not status all the while giving the rest of the country an opportunity to continue their usual diatribe against the province about welfare, handouts, blah, blah, blah. Man it's hard to keep a positive outlook.

...although not punitive and vindictive enough to vote against it. You really need to stop putting so much faith in the words of politicians. That includes Danny Williams.

Hey, when you throw the sh*t first, don't complain when it comes back at ya. He started the petty insults and comments, if he doesn't like how he get's compared to Jaba the Hut, or Pizza the Hut from Spaceballs, maybe he should keep his mouth shut until he has something mature to say.

All of us here should be well aware of how starting a discussion in this way doesn't help open a respectable debate. I just try and make it more apparent

But as I am trying to express in this post, if people keep things decent, I stay decent.

Duffy has been around for some time now, and one would think he would know this as well... start with childish remarks as he did (Esspecially when you get to preach it all over the nation on TV) expect it to come back in a similar fashion and multiplied by more people.

That's the chances you take when you voice your opinions in a negitive fashion on national tv.

One could argue about whether people are throwing sh*t or not. What one can not argue is that Duffy's comments pertained to the topic at hand while his weight has nothing to do with anything. It attacks the messenger instead of the message. People that resort to this sort of thing do so because they are incapable of attacking the message. The same thing happens on web forums when somebody figures they have got their arse handed to them in a debate. They will usually move away from attacking and defending ideas and instead personally attack the other person. That's usually when the troll or Nazi label starts getting tossed around.

I added more to my post, however it took me too long to get it edited.

Duffy's message was pointless to the topic at hand other then to toss in a few smarmy comments for getting brownie points and attention on TV. He has no position to complain about the responses he gets based on those comments.

If he wanted to say he didn't like the concept of the PEI premiere dealing with the Newfoundland premiere, he could have done it a hell of a lot more professionally then he did.... that's his so-called "job" (Even though I wouldn't really call his film-critic equivilant position on the CTV a job) Just because he got a sen. position from Harper doesn't mean he can shoot his mouth off about whatever he wishes and get away from response from the public.

People will get offended as they did and they will respond. You'd think he would know this by now.

And I'm also pretty sure that he got a lot more tossed his way that actually related to the topic at hand, but would rather point out the few who got personal with him.... why? Because that's the way he is and he's striving for personal sympathy for what he created.

And the people who would claim he was throwing sh*t would probably be those who were offended by his comments, or feel they know more about the situation then he does.... so they'd be valid in their responses.

Or attack a group of people such as you've been doing since you started this thread. If the shoe fits huh Cannuck?
