More "fiscal conservatism" from the Harper appointed Senator Mike Duffy.

Mike Duffy billed Senate $65,000 to pay friend for ‘no tangible work’, RCMP alleges | National Post

Mike Duffy billed the Senate for $65,000 to pay a friend who allegedly provided “no tangible work” for the embattled Prince Edward Island senator, the RCMP allege in a new court document.

The document, filed Tuesday in Ottawa, lays out new allegations of misspending against Duffy, and seeks banking information of Gerald Donohue, who investigators say is a long-time friend of Duffy.

The new allegations stem from an investigation of Duffy’s travel and housing expenses, which the court documents say has now been expanded to include his office spending. In that funding envelope was about $65,000 over a four-year period to Donohue “for little or no apparent work.”

I think both Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin should receive a sentence commensurate with that handed to the M.L.A. in Nova Scotia for theft from the taxpayer. (Oh yes, I forgot to say provided they are convicted) -:)

I have a better idea, they should go on a Canada wide tour...in stocks on the back of a flatbed truck in January and we all get to pelt them with rotten eggs and tomatoes as they drive by.:D

No binders full of women like Romney.
Harper’s former chief of staff had ‘detailed’ binder of Duffy’s activities - The Globe and Mail

Stephen Harper’s former chief of staff had a binder full of details on Senator Mike Duffy’s official and personal activities, but appears not to have provided it to auditors reviewing Duffy’s expenses nor to police when they first opened an investigation.

The existence of a binder of calendars, chronicling Duffy’s life over four years, was revealed in RCMP documents filed in court his week.

It raises a host of new questions about how much the prime minister’s office knew about Duffy’s movements, at a time when the former Tory senator’s expenses were under the microscope.

“The calendar is quite detailed and contains notes of Sen. Duffy’s travel, meetings, teleconferences, social events, holidays, noteworthy current events, speeches, and political interactions,” Cpl. Greg Horton wrote in a court filing.

In early February, the Senate asked independent auditors to look into Duffy’s expenses following allegations he was improperly claiming a home in P.E.I. as his main residence. Some time that month, Duffy couriered the binder of calendars to Nigel Wright, who was then Harper’s right-hand man.

“Mary and I copied and redacted my four years of diaries; added a summary of my days in P.E.I, and pics of the cottage under construction etc. and sent it to Nigel by Purolator,” Duffy wrote in a Feb. 20 email obtained by police.

Duffy never gave those calendars to the Deloitte auditors and they finished their report in May pointing out the many questions they still had about Duffy’s whereabouts and expense claims. Still, the Conservative Senate leadership did not demand more detail and backed a report that contained no criticism of Duffy.

The news broke shortly afterward that Wright had given Duffy a $90,000 cheque in March to repay questionable expenses.

A Senate committee started scrutinizing Duffy’s expenses again, this time connecting more dots with the help of detailed information from Senate finance officials. The matter was forwarded to the RCMP.

By mid-June, the RCMP were talking to Wright’s lawyers about the controversy. But Wright’s legal counsel did not send the binder of calendars to the police until more than two months later.

The Canadian Press put questions to Wright about the documents through his lawyers. Peter Mantas responded Wednesday that they “could not comment on the matter.”

The Prime Minister’s Office also did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the new information.

Duffy has said he will not comment.

The RCMP have outlined four areas of investigation as they file production orders for documents:

The $90,000 transaction between Duffy and Wright.
Duffy’s housing expense claims.
Duffy’s travel expense claims.
$65,000 worth of Senate-paid contracts Duffy provided to a friend over three years.

Now if this can happen Provincially.............why not Federally......?

A former Nova Scotia politician was sentenced to four months in jail Wednesday for defrauding the province of $8,400 by submitting bogus expense claims for donations that were never made to three charitable groups and one hockey dad.

Trevor Zinck pleaded guilty in June to fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust for accepting reimbursements from the Speaker's Office to cover constituency expenses in 2008 and 2009, even though he didn't pay those he claimed were owed money.

Michel Biron, a retired Liberal senator who is his friend, said life in jail for the 67-year-old Lavigne has not been easy.
"There’s intimidation and extortion, and it’s dangerous," Biron said.
the bastards should feel right at home then

So when does he go to jail?
not until Harper takes his head out of his azz and realizes his career is hanging in the balance with his partners in crime, who belong to the lib and conservative parties...and that will be determined by how stupid they think we are as a people

sooooooooooooooo likely never

It's sort of like how if hyperspace forces of evil were to stop how they get killed if humans get it right, by first creating bumble-f*ck-****-wankers like Mulroney who would talk to the press and not muzzel his cabinet, in the next round they got a perfect hand-puppet tailored to that flaw in Canadian law.

In that form of legal/social structure, a weak guy can get hammered, yet still stand up even after they all could have beat him, and they let him go.

Basically, regardless what you read, it's going to boil down to maintaining control of the bank of Canada.

It's because of that experiment I did as a kid after I saw the movie "Who's robbing the bank", where I saw money was printable, so I made blocks of sawed-off pieces of 2x4, then glued small cord to it to make denominations, and got my younger brother into helping me pring a bunch of neighborhood currency.

I told them it was money, and what got me was when they actually started trading with it.

They actually gave it value on the basis of faith.

Even though I was the bratfink definition of the worst possible form of kid I shut it down then. Something in my heart knew how the adults would react if they found out.

But evidently I missed my calling in private schools. Imagine the social advantage could have been thrown at my folks if they'd just put me into one of those American private schools.

NDP asks House speaker for investigation into Duffy expense scandal

Only one day after the throne speech, attention on the Hill has turned back to the senate expense scandal, with the NDP’s ethics critic Charlie Angus formally asking the speaker of the House of Commons to investigate whether or not the Prime Minister misled the House.

The NDP wants to know whether or not Stephen Harper was aware of the $90,000 cheque to help senator Mike Duffy pay off his improper expenses, and is calling for the Prime Minister to be found in contempt of Parliament.

The cheque in question was written by Harper’s own then-chief of staff, Nigel Wright, but the PM has said he and others in his office were unaware of Wright’s secret deal, and that Wright acted alone.

However, Angus says according to an RCMP affidavit, at least three others in the Prime Minister’s Office were involved, including the executive assistant to the chief of staff, the former legal advisor to the Prime Minister and the director of issues management for the Prime Minister.

“The only question seems to be whether the Prime Minister deliberately misled us, or whether his Prime Minister’s staff lied to him,” he said, Thursday. “Members of Parliament have had their privileges breached, and democracy has suffered as a result.”
